Just a quick rec here: Beasts and Outlaws by [livejournal.com profile] calamitycrow (ca 40.000 words)
Summary: Back in 2001, two brothers made their choices. Now Dean's in a relationship and Sam's a respected hunter who has his father's love and approval. Of course, nothing's that easy when you are a Winchester....

This AU has totally an old Western atmosphere to it and it's great. And yeah, it features Dean/OMC, meaning not straight out Gen and not Wincest either. Also, if you start reading, you might find yourself confused at first because it's non-linear BUT this is one of the best examples of non-linear storytelling I've read and if you stick with it and go with the story suddenly it becomes very easy to follow and very rewarding too.

Also, the slash doesn't overpower the story so both Gen-fans - has a good underlying myth story - and non-fans of non-OTPs (I swear that made sense in my head :) can enjoy it IMO. As an extra bonus the OCs are richly drawn without being either Mary Sues or totally taking over the story.

And, if, like me, you're a fan of Action!Hunter!Dean who has his own brand of specialness and think the summary means he has been turned into a domesticated toothless tiger, no worries. *g* Everybody is an action man (or woman) in this story.

For all the people who - like me - start painting a devil's trap on the floor when they hear "crossdressing", forget it and give this a story a go. No worries about WIP, its finished too. I did it and I never regretted it:

Fated to Pretend by [livejournal.com profile] xkatjafx

Nearly 30.000 words of raunchy J2 goodness.

It's cute and funny and it features awesome banter and characterization. Plus, it has wonderful art to go with it. Again, I repeat, this is usually not my subject matter but I honestly, truly didn't mind it and it didn't keep me from enjoying this story at all. You will think of the characters as people, not of what they are wearing.

*now shoo*

For a drive-by rec: Round and Round the Garden
It thought it was funny and adorable, and for the kink-loving folks among you even features genderswap. Seeing as they`re Weechesters, it is PG though but totally worth a shot. :)

And let me take the opportunity to pimp out the [livejournal.com profile] spn_summergen stories in general. Seeing as the fic is anonymous so far, I for one have great fun guessing the authors. And no, I the above rec isn`t myself. :-p

I can only assume people haven`t yet discovered it but you all should really give it a try: The Telegram

It`s a Supernatural AU, set in turn-of-the-century (that still refers to the 1900-period, right? because 2000 wasn`t very magical) San Francisco and the way the author keeps in the language of that time alone is great. Also, you can tell a buttload of research and care for details went into it. It features Dean/Sam but not graphic.

And the cover art is amazing and Sam and Dean in period costumes, turn of the century, look adorable. Even if Wincest isn`t your thing, you should take a peek.

*onto the next Bigbang-fic because due to not being able to keep up, I`m now making my way through it backwards - [livejournal.com profile] legoline, you`re on :) *

edit: Yup, and now that I finished it, you can all march over and check out [livejournal.com profile] legoline`s The Depths of your Mind too.
Noone whumps the boys quite like she does - and I mean that in the best possible way, of course. :)

Since I`m in rec-y mood today, this is an addendum on a story I recced once upon a time and maybe people have given up on it because it was still a WIP back then and not updated for a year or so. BUT, here it is, the final version of 31 chapters:

In Reverse by sodakey

It`s a Gen-story with an intriguing case plot intercutting between something that happened in the past and resurfaces now in the present. There is also lots of brotherly goodness - set in Season 1 mostly, makes mention of the events in "Faith" - and what I particularly liked was the interaction with Sam`s old College friends. How they reacted to Sam - and especially Dean.

So now it`s safe :), go finish or read it in the first place. *bip*
And yes, I know where my link directs you but don`t let that discourage you. ;-)

Just a quick fic rec: Pope Joan: The Anti Christ by [livejournal.com profile] pdragon76

It`s a one-shot, Gen and features a Season 3 character but I don`t want to say more than: I find it gratifying. :-p
