If you want something really, really bad...

Seeing as I talk about not much else recently, I'm sure you'll be really surprised that this post is about... X-Men First Class *g*

Having seen this movie roughly fifty times now, I thought I could do this favourite scenes thingie as well. And to clarify that a bit on what that means for me, I NEVER watch a movie whole more than three times at the most and that is really, really pushing it, never have in my life and never will probably and I have not watched XMFC more than two times in its entirety either. I will however watch my favourite scenes of my favourite movies literally hundreds of times. Once upon a time I "watched" Star Wars every week for an entire year, parts of it that is, pretty much the same parts. Seriously, DVDs and chapter skip were invented just for me and my instant gratification. :D

So whenever I say what are my favourite scenes of a movie, that is in a nutshell the movie for me. Curiously - and this is a seldom if not totally unheard of experience for me - I keep shifting/adding scenes with this one. There are those that struck me right away and still do and there are those that sprung on me later.
Anyway, without further ado ( this is what I'm watching when I say I rewatched the movie )

Oh wow, this might have turned into a half-baked meta already.

Also, note to self, do not drive to work listening to the movie soundtrack in your car and have it on what I call "Erik's badass theme" while you are stuck at a red light or behind a "crawler". That music does bring out my aggressiveness as well. Seriously, if I could command metal, that "20 miles per hour" bozo in front of me and his car would have been toast. :-p

You know something I read that cracked me up? How everyone that was in X-Men: First Class has now drastically reduded their degrees of Kevin Bacon. Tehee. So true.

Btw, does anyone know how that saying/game "six degrees of Kevin Bacon" came about? I mean, I've known it for quite a while but where and how did it start? Anyone? Bueller?

For the last few days/weeks I've been happily immersing myself into XMFC fandom and fic and luckily, the fandom is rather prolific. I just wish people wouldn't write great and engaging 30k to 50k word stories as a WIP in comment fic. I mean why? *bangs fists* That makes it so hard to keep up with them, to save them and re-read at leisure.

I don't consider myself an entitled reader with wanting to have a specific format or some such (okay, I do personally draw the line at 8 point font white on light-coloured background and no paragraphs whatsoever) but I like to read in one piece. Now I've painstakingly copied every part of the stories into word documents so I could do that. Sigh.

Bwahahaha. So cute. Check out how the little Erik pony drags the little Charles pony to safety. Aww.

You know what else is awesome about X-Men First Class? They bothered to make German sound like actual German. I mean ( very minor movie spoiler )

After so many times of movies/shows showing a minor "German" side character who made me wanna rip off my own ears as soon as they opened their mouth, that was a neat attention to detail.

Also, something that cracked me up on my, oh I don't know, twentieth rewatching or so :) ( movie spoiler ) In conclusion. Awwwww.

Oh, and a small comment about the ( cameo )

You know, if I ignore any and all incosistencies that prequels vs. later-yet-earlier sequels bring and take X-Men: First Class on its own, I'm really kind of in love with it. I mean, it really was a romantic tragedy and the Charles/Eric of it all was so gloriously slashy, it makes my little heart go pitter-patter with glee. I mean, did you see that scene on the beach, DID YOU? I mean ( spoiler ) *g*

Currently scouting for good Charles/Eric fanfiction. So if any one has some recs, I'd be grateful.
