Work has been crazy lately and I have been a lot less spendy so I wanted to reward myself with a "nostalgia" DVD. Looking around, I have to wonder: what the fuck did they do with the "master tapes" of Scarecrow and Mrs.King? Throw them in acid? Every other show, every single one, I remember watching from that time as a kid has at least one Season out by now. Some from way before.
Why in the heavens does it work for all of them and not Amanda and Lee? All those shows were produced roughly in the same years and back then there wasn't exactly such a thing as different formats so how can one be so unfit to remaster while all the others aren't? I KNOW it is not because of lack of interest in it. I know that. WTF?
Or is it really about legal issues? Because, dude, again, every single other show makes it. Bah.

Date: 2009-10-14 08:24 pm (UTC)I don't know when the show has last been shown here on TV. I think it might be 15 years now. :/

By the way, even RIPTIDE is out on DVD by now.

Which makes it so hard for me to understand why they can't put SaMK on DVD. And stuff like "Colt Seavers" and "Hart aber Herzlich" is out, too, and that was on a couple years before "Agentin mit Herz". Does not compute.

Date: 2009-10-14 09:51 pm (UTC)Is it really technical issues?
I heard it speculated but I think noone really knows, not even the actors. It might be legal as well but even that would seem odd to me. They didn't have expensive songs back then so muscial rights shouldn't be an issue and someone has got to be holding the rights to the show. Who could only make money if it got made on DVD so why would anyone refuse? All very, very odd.

Date: 2009-10-14 10:23 pm (UTC)What I'd heard is it was a legal tangle about who owns the show -- Warner Bros. or Shoot-the-Moon Enterprises (Kate Jackson's own production company). So there's a hold up.
When that show was on I didn't know what fanfiction was and had no computer and nobody I knew had internet access, but SMK was pretty much my first full-on, crazy-obsessive fandom love.

Really? I have to look for that.
