Notes: This little baby-ficlet just showed up in my brain today. No idea why. :)
He had made himself comfortable on the old chair, lazily soaking up the late afternoon sun. Dinner wouldn't be for another hour, and he had already made his rounds, leaving him with nothing to do at the moment.
Two men, brothers, had arrived earlier in a shiny black car. He liked the car, all sleek and smooth, even though it made a lot of noise. Especially that creaking sound, that rang out when you opened the doors, hurt his ears.
They had been friendly, speaking a few words to him. Not everyone was these days - after all, he was just a lowly guard so why bother, right? - and he appreciated it. Dean, the one with the bright smile, had even shared a Snickers bar with him, and Sam, the giant with hair and eyes not unlike his own, had jovially patted him on the back.
Of course he knew all about them already - their reputation preceded them - though they didn't know that. In fact, they'd probably be horrified at the thought of someone else knowing that much about them. Then again, he was pretty sure he could convince the brothers that he wasn't one to tattle easily.
A sound drew his attention and he looked up. A pretty young woman with short, blond hair came closer, smiling at him. He rose to meet her. After all that was his job, guarding this place. He knew about her too, of course. Knew her innocent smile belied the part of her that was anything but. Unfortunately for him, that was the part in command right now. And in that moment he also knew his time had come. Even guardian spirits didn't live forever after all. Especially not those in the vicinity of the Winchesters from what he heard.
He gave a few loud barks to warn Bobby and the brothers. The woman reached out for him again, and soon everything was eerily quiet again on the old junkyard. The guardian lay dead.
