Why are you doing this to me, plot bunnies? Why??? I never did anything to you.

It`s official, I`ve turned into one of those crazy over-achievers that bite off way more than they can chew. I`m now knee-deep in the process of writing my cracky Barbarian & Slave J2 - story, my entry for[livejournal.com profile] spn_fairytale, a sequel to Hidden Treasures AND a sequel to my [livejournal.com profile] spn_harlequin baby Grapes of Wrath. Oh, and of course each will be NC-17 and porny, meaning my innocence is a thing of the past.
If anyone is interested in beta-ing anything by the way, don`t hesitate to let me know. :) Only one has a deadline so no time issues or anything and you would get to read my shitty first draft. *cough*

Well, what sad world would it be where barbarians aren`t gleefully ripping clothes off their poor little captives? *g*

Hm...I`m afraid that it will definitely make an appearance. For the Barbarian one it has to be graphic and dark to convey the atmosphere I want. It`s supposed to be a bit uncomfortable, you know what I mean?
I don`t know if the Harlequin Sequel will have graphic scenes, the original only has one scene amongst the schmoop and the sequel might have more references amongst the plot. :)

Can't you write Barbarian angst without porn? :-)

Heh. I`m afraid I`ve made the porn an actual plot point, thereby throwing out every convention of modern fanfic writing. :)

Huh? I thought porn WAS the only plot point in modern fic writing? :-)

I absolutely love your work and if you still need someone to look over your barbarian and slave fic I'm more than happy to give you my two cents! And I'm totally not being altruistic, I check your lj every other day to see if you've posted it! I have an English degree and was a copy editor for my school newspaper so I have a general idea of what goes where, but I'm much more interested in how a story sounds, how it feels than if you know when to use a semi-colon as opposed to a colon. If not, no worries, I'll still be reading once you finish!

Oh, that would be so great. A friend is giving it a read-over but we`re both non-native speakers so I was actually looking for a "mother-tonguer". :)

You`d actually have the choice right now because I`m multitasking like crazy. Chapter 1 of the Barbarian fic is done, Chapter 2 nearly so. Also Chapter 1 of the Grapes-Sequel is ready and my J2 entry for the Fairytale challenge is also up to Chap 1. So give me a holler which one you`d best interested in. Thanks.

Hey, sweetie. I don't know if you received my second e-mail or not, I don't want you to think I spazzed out on you if you hadn't. I'm definitely still interested in looking over your barbarian/slave fic and I could totally look over your sequel to "Wrath" if you don't have someone else lined up for that. If you've found someone else to look over it, again, no prob, I'll still be eagerly awaiting the finished products! Hope everything is copacetic for you!

Hey, hon, I'm just checking to see if you received the betaed version of The Bronze Age. I sent it a couple of days ago and I know you were having some issues with your e-mail and I don't want you to think that I've just decided to keep your fics forever and not work on them; am about to tackle Seven Year (B)itch, so you should that in a couple of days. Just let me know!

Yup, I got it. Thank you so much. :) I actually replied to that e-mail, didn`t you get it? I wanted to ask about changes made because I didn`t see any colour-coding in the file so I didn`t know what/if you had changed.

Yikes!! No, I never got that e-mail. For the most part, your fic was pretty clean; I just fixed some punctuation, and I changed around a few sentences that I felt didn't work; hmm, I've never "betaed" before, so I just edited the text the way I did when I worked at a newspaper. Hmmm, I still have your original text saved to my hard drive, I can always go thru it again and explicitly mark where I made changes and send it back to you. Just let me know what you would like me to do; I'll make sure to mark any changes I may make to Seven Year (B)itch explicitly. It was a joy to read The Bronze Age and I would love to look over the rest of it whenever you finish and I'll make sure to beta it the way you prefer.

If it isn`t too much work, I`d be totally grateful for that because I try to see where I went wrong and not make the same mistakes again. Rather I make new ones. :)
And punctuation, especially commas are still my enemy. I used to put in too little, now I fear it`s too many. So I`m trying to memorize the rules right now.

And I still haven`t figured out when to use simple past tense and when to switch into "had done..." territory. Especially when a character reflects on past events in the middle of a "normal" ongoing scene. It`s so frustrating when I`m in the writing flow and have to stop because I suddenly think about grammar. :/

Hey, hun, just want to drop a line and let you know what's going on in betaland. I'm about a quarter of a way thru marking Bronze Age and I've reread Seven Year (B)Itch and am about to start marking that up. I've set up a deadline to have this done and sent to you by next Wednesday, the 26th. So expect two e-mails with big attachments at 11:59 pm on the 25th!
