Because of RL and finishing up some longer fics, I`ve had quite a posting dry-spell for a couple months. Which in turn also led to a a few dry spells in writing fic and time-management issues when it came to deadline. So, in the interest of getting back in the groove of things, I`ve decided to take up [livejournal.com profile] spnflashfic again.

It`s fun, and I`ve noticed how completing a short story in the span of a half an hour does wonders for your spirits if you`re stuck in your 20.000 word epic. After I was done with Book Club, I pretty much attacked a sequel to a longish fic with new vigor. :) Also, I can alternate between the genres a bit. My rekindled love affair with Wincest has spawned another epic plot bunny which I`m excited to start. However, I think I`ll need a bit of training wheels till then. :D

So, what I`ve been getting at in my usual, completely unsuccint way is to pimp out my first new contribution to Flashfic, up and running here:

A Miracle Right There

It`s Gen and an episode tag as the challenge was "ten minutes after". I guess it`s pretty hard guessing the episode from that title, huh? *g*

I've been trying to write flashfics on a regular basis for a while now--just feels good to get something "out there," especially when you like me wouldn't post otherwise because you need to finish your longish fics first :D

While I did post Horseman as a WIP, I usually prefer to put up finished fic as well. Just going by myself as a reader, waiting is so torturous. *g*

And it truly feels good not to aggravate six weeks over a chapter but to actually write something within a day.

It went that way for my summergen-story. I had writer`s block for the longest time, then I rushed to finish, and as a result the fic is less than great. :/ And that when the story truly has to stand on its own, without the benefit of a name attached. Le Sigh.

True, I guess, but I don't think I ever have the benefit of my name attached to fic. Hell, the sore reason why I didn't participate in the summergen challenge this year was because I didn't want anyone to end up with my writing...

Very true. :D I even dared to post my last two stories unbetad...OMG. Just wrotethem, read them over and posted them. That felt good :D

I`m pretty sure there are a good many who will read a fic because they see it`s written by you. Don`t sell yourself short. You`re prolific and have written good stuff.

I think everybody would fret over whether their recipient likes the fic. I, too, felt bad about mine. And heck, I wonder what mine will be like too and which prompt will be taken. :D

Heh. Me too. After studying what my betas always corrected for me, I try to look out for especially. So, I feel confident enough to get a couple hundred words up naked. *g* It`s nice not to have to beg and plead everytime for beta-ing. For longer fic a beta is needed anyhow.

Maybe some few, but I don't think that really qualifies as the benefit of the name :)

Exactly. My "serious" stuff always gets a beta but these are "only" flashfics, spur of the moment thingies, so if I read them over once or twice I just cross my fingers and hope it's enough :-) Still feels weird, though, like I'm some kind of impostor :)

Aww, no. Compared to the people who will gleefully post that they just don`t feel like having their stuff beta-ed and then you open it and it`s 10k where even I can spot fifty errors on first glance, that`s nothing. :)

That's what I keep telling myself :)

There are quite a few long fics out there that drive me bonkers because they could be awesome if only the authors had bothered to get a beta.
