There is a little behind-the-scenes about the new X-Files movie on TV.

And, is my hearing crapping out on me but not only is the German Mulder voice NOT the voice the character had in freaking TEN YEARS of the show and is thus associated with him, no, the German Mulder voice for this movie strikes me as the German Krycek voice FROM THE SHOW.

This is beyond insane.

I think [livejournal.com profile] frogspace or [livejournal.com profile] stabbim told me that the "old" voice tried to get rich with the movie and demanded 40,000€ (I think that's the amount, anyway, a shitload of money) for dubbing the film, which was way WAY more than the company was willing to pay especially in comparison to what his usual fee is. So this time, it's the actor's fault.

Okay, I can see not using him then even though it plain hurts my ears but instead I heard Krycek as Mulder. Which was even worse. Like when suddenly Commander Riker`s German voice in the movies was Tom Paris. *brain does not compute*

They could have paid a little more attention with the replacement, I guess. Maybe they thought the crowd would be more forgiving if they heard a familiar voice at least. Hee :D (AS IF!)

The trailer I saw had Mulder and Scully calling each other "Sie". I find that even worse than Mulder's wrong voice.

That, I`ve been immunized against because it`s always the same in German dubbing where people after year-long friendships go on calling each other "Sie" and when it`s male/female, they don`t move on to "du" until right before or after the first sex. It`s mind-boggling but I`m used to it.

But they have a child together. Why would they still use "Sie"? It makes no sense.

I`m not sure the people in charge of the dubbing/translation even know that. They probably only take a short glimpse, figure out the characters are not currently having sex and therefore would call each other "Sie".

Wait what? *pulls hair* I don't even want to consider the madness this is. Krycek for Mulder *blinks* Guess it's a good thing the show hasn't been on in such a long time, so maybe only the die-hard fans will notice.

Probably, but I already know I`ll be incapable to watch it in German. Everytime I heard Krycek speak yet saw Mulder, I started to twitch uncontrollably.
