Baring an absolute miracle it seems the Great Writer Strike of 07 will hit on Thursday. And since Fox and CBS seem complacent to duke it out for months, it might hit HARD.
SPN is in the process of shooting ep 10 by now which will most likely be finished either way. I could imagine they have 2-4 scripts stock-piled which might get produced before winter hiatus. Though no casting call yet for ep 11. Hm. Seeing as sweeps still count for something, I expect the scripts to be stretched out, meaning likely no new eps in January and come March we run dry. If worst comes to pass, we`ll get half-Season Seasons everywhere. Let alone Pilot Season for next fall.
Yeah, Les Moonves I think that`s a bang up prospect for scripted TV. Lets see who gets the last laugh when CBS starts bleeding money too - and viewers never to return. Shortsightedness is so much fun. *sarcasm*

On the one hand all shows should be safe because networks will have nothing better to put on next fall. On the other hand the CW itself might crumble. Oh boy.

Date: 2007-10-31 01:01 am (UTC)Writers who are also producers might not even work in that capacity. Basically a lot of shows would have to shut down production until the strike is resolved. And if it takes a few months it would mean we wouldn`t get more than 11-12 episodes for any scripted show. In the meantime networks would air reality, reruns and more reality. Urgh.
