The update on the Season 3 Supernatural spoiler?

So Ruby is sexy, cocky and confident - Wow, such a character was truly missing from the show. *headdesk*

And Bela - WTF? Bela Lugosi or what? is ruthless and a BETTER HUNTER THAN SAM AND DEAN

Of course, that is EXACTLY the kind of thing I do NOT want to read about new characters. Because all it does is give me the insane wish she gets her fucking ass handed to her on every freaking occassion. And yes, I would feel the same way if it was a guy.

I care about Dean and Sam. They need not be the best hunters evah - in fact Bobby is fucking better at this point - but some upstart swooping in and right off the bat being described as better than the exisiting heroes? MARY SUE fanfiction in its abysmal glory.

Bobby is better because he has slowly, quietly shown to us that he is better. This sounds like "I`m the shiny new toy in the toy box so you can throw these ratty old models out". It sounds like they will "meet cute" where the brothers look like court jesters while SuperBela stands above them with a ready quip on her lips and they gaze up at her in awe and worshipness. Then she puts them in their place.
I want my sympathy characters to triumph. Yeah, sue me.

Also SERIES REGULARS. Which probably means being in the fucking credits and in a substantial part of the Season. I`m hoping there is some contractual thing that forbids them from being billed before either Jensen or Jared. Because THAT? BOOM.
And no testing if they even work on the show? With the characters? With each other? Chemistry? Acting talent?

It all sounds very much like the female Dean and Sam - only bigger and better. And if you got better what do you need the prototypes for? Comic relief? Background action? I DO believe Kripke would pull the plug before the story becomes about the new supergirls but that would be a damn bitter ending for the show. :/


Again, I KNOW I`m painting the devil on the wall here but fuck, that`s how I feel at the moment and if you can`t rant in your own journal, where can you rant?


Right now, the only way I can see this working is them being evil or antagonists. Or at least properly put in THEIR place which is BENEATH Dean and Sam in levels of importance and general awesomeness.



To maybe clarify my position on adding on new people:

After two years of living and laughing and suffering with the Winchesters, the core of this show is set. Its heroes are Sam and Dean.

And NOONE will ever or should ever get to their level for me. I care about other characters ONLY insofar as how they play into the Winchester story. Their own backgrounds and sob stories? Don`t particularly care. And never will. Their own adventures? Spin them off for all I care but don`t superimpose it on MY show.

So everyone else should be SIDE characters. And fundamentally Supernatural is a BOY POWER show. I don`t watch it for girl power and I don`t need to. There are a myriad of other shows for that.

Jo, Ash und Ellen waren seinerzeit aber auch als "recurring" (mit Option) geführt. Das bedeutet vertraglich ganz was anderes als wenn jemand als regular gebooked wird. Denn das heißt dann derjenige kommt in die Opening credits und kann eine gewisse Anzahl Auftritte verlangen, wenigstens die Hälfte der Staffel. :/

Und nachdem SV auch Supergirl kriegt, die in der Beschreibung auch "kann alles was Clark kann, nur BESSER" hatte, klingt das schon sehr nach Network-Mandat. Im Sinne von "ihr schreibt jetzt die obertollen Weibsen rein, das treibt die Quoten hoch" und wenn`s funktioniert, kann man die Dean/Sam-Story immer weiter zurückfahren.

Außerdem klingt es genau so wie die allermieseste Fanfic.

Erstmal abwarten. Vielleicht wird es sogar ganz gut? Und wenn nicht hatten wir immerhin zwei tolle Staffeln *shrug*

Dann muß ich mir aber wieder `ne neue Show zum Liebhaben suchen. Schnüff.

Und es wäre schade, wenn die Serie so in Erinnerung bleibt als eine von diesen "ja, das war mal ganz gut aber dann wurde es nur gräßlich"-Szenarios. Noch dazu wäre ich dann vom "Abschluß" also Season 2 enttäuscht.

Ist schon ok. Vielleicht tauchen die beiden ja tatsächlich als Gegenspieler auf. Wenn nicht - na ja, erinnerst du dich noch wie schnell Jo umgeschrieben wurde als der Love Interest so gar nicht ankam? Oder vielleicht wird die Ostroff ENDLICH gefeuert.
