I left my heart in San Francisco

You know last Season? Sera Gamble and Raelle Tucker were totally my favorite writing team on the show. This Season they split up and the results have been less then pleasant to me. But actually Sera comes out better overall. This one was entertaining. Sorry
legoline but I can`t give you a rant today. :/
First off, San Francisco - Yay. I get always so...would that be home-tele-sick? when I see shots of San Fran. I interned there and if I ever did migrate I would set up permanent shop there. Fuck earthquakes and the tectonical movement they rode in on. :-p
The teaser was a bit long and thusly boring and the episode did take a while till it started rolling but when it did I digged it.
Hey, Dr.Fraser. Aww, she didn`t really die, she only quit the Stargate Programm. Also nice bit of continuity that Dean can`t exactly go into public places anymore. Still Sam shouldn`t either. He is not even dressed like a dedective. I feel like I`m back in early Season 1 when they never, ever looked the part.
Didn`t feel any initial attraction between Sam and Madison. Not the way you could immediately see with Sarah.Sam just seemed emo with her. But once they were alone it was pretty cute. I liked how she messed with him. It reminded me off the Dropkick-flirting with Lex. Heh. And Sam is so terribly, terribly unsmooth. I bet Jessica did all the courtship. :D
I liked the soap opera bit and how Sam got into it.
Also liked the first confrontation Sam-Madison because for a bit there he was rather cold until he gleened she might not know about herself. Which in turn made her believably desperate.
Liked the "moral" debates in this one way more than "Bloodlust" and "Croatoan" where the situation just set it up one-sided and there wasn`t much debate to be had. Here there were actually some valid points on both sides.
The moving into the sex scene was a bit awkward but then it penned out nicely enough. It was better lit than Route 666 but choreographed pretty similar. Throw down, roll, thrusts, sit up. Same repertoire, guys? :-p Other than Sam is quite the biter.
Sammy sure has a nice bod, just not my type so I found it aesthetically pleasing but not personally hot.
Dean took kinda a backseat in this one but I didn`t mind so much because he wasn`t an idiot in his bits. They had some cute brotherly banter and it was sweet seeing Dean fangirling werewolves and how he totally ignored Sam snarking at him. Didn`t even register. Hee, poor little brother.
Loved him calling Sam on doing exactly what he was doing. Double Hee.
Liked him being sympathetic towards Glen the neighbour and also towards Madison. And yes WereMadison kinda got the jump on him but he knifed her, did the leg work later and expertly shot WereGlen. Yay for Hunter!Dean getting the job done.
Two weird reaction shot I must nitpick:
The one bitchface I disliked from Sam towards Dean was when Dean asked the "how exactly is not exactly question" to Madison. Come ON, it was perfectly valid and she didn`t seem like she would be crying any minute. Why the "how CAN you" face?
Also Madison talking about guys hitting on every girl, the camera cuts to Dean looking stoned and bobbing his head and stays there for 5 minutes. Huh? Why not have a quick lecherous grin and cut away. Weird editing.
So, the ending. Beautifully acted but a little heavy on the anvils. And also a bit rushed on the solution.
"So, I`m a werewolf."
"Yup."
"There a cure?"
"Nope"
"Realy?"
"We checked EVERYWHERE. We wandered the lands for decades looking for a cure but no such thing... Take our word on it."
"Oh, bummer. Okay then, whack me."
What was that last week about hanging so tightly on to life you can`t even let go in death? Uh-huh. The situation in itself being hopeless is fine but they rushed into it because the episode was nearly done. Makes things lose the emotional gravity it might otherwise have.
I`m very glad Sam did it himself. And boy did I love the shot of Dean gently taking the gun and standing behind Madison but it was a big step forward for Sam. Set-up was very much parent not wanting their child get hurt in the big wide world and not letting them do the plunge they KNOW will hurt and the child not wanting to do it either but both doing it.
It was also a parallel to the promise but you can`t equate the situations because nothing there convinced me Sam would just as simply kill DEAN in that situation. No way.
Apropos killing, I`m really not on the Dean would never, ever kill Sam-train. If Sam was bleeding out somewhere and the wounds were fatal, do we really think Dean would let him suffer in agony for hours and not do anything about it? Or vice versa? I can think of scenarious where they would do a mercy-kill but only if and when they felt all hope were lost.
And so far the whole DENSITY thing is very foggy, no clear danger to pin down.
But poor Sam, he will never, ever, ever, ever, ever have sex again now. NEVER. *g*
So, all in all this one did...not suck. I was entertained. My cat too. He watched with me and apart from the occasional cleaning himself he was riveted. :)
Actually to come back to what I mentioned about Gamble and Tucker above, Gamble did one very good episode with Crossroad Blues, Tucker did one with Children.
Gamble`s other two "Bloodlust" and "Houses" were flowing along nicely enough until the end there. So they had potential with annoyances. And this one was a bit on the heavy-handed side too but rather inoffensive with the characters. Always a plus.
Tucker did "Hunted" - Grrr and "Roadkill" which is very broad with the characterization or should I say karrikaturization.
So Gamble still wins but has since lost her standing with me.
Aaaand, it`s time for the ranking game. This groups contenders are: BUABS, Tall Tales, Roadkill, Heart
1. Born under a bad sign - Ha, like that was so difficult
2. Heart - at the end of the day it had more substance than Tall Tales
3. Tall Tales - funny but a bit misplaced
4. Roadkill - it`s not horrible but not my cuppa tea
Trailer for next week? I`m not sure the writers understand the idea of emotional continuity. It looks like funny shit and all but this week brought TRAUMA. They can`t just shrug that off like nobody`s business.
Also today the LJ and I are celebrating our first anniversary. One year happily posting.
I remember a year to this day I did a post on Supernatural. God, how things change. :-p

You know it was driving me NUTS because I knew her but couldn't place her... *headdesk*
I really wasn't too impressed by it though granted, the ending was rather good. I think what bothered me was the whole build-up:
"You're a werewolf."
"No way! WEREWOLVES DON'T EXIST NEVAH!!! YOU'RE CRAZY AND YOU TIED ME TO MY CHAIR AND YOU'RE A PSYCHO!!!"
"You have a weird cut on your arm and a scar on your neck."
"Oh. Okay. I believe you. And I can't be healed?"
"Nope, sorry."
"Okay. Let's kill me without any further proof."
Excuse me???? How fucking stupid was she? Seriously, she almost deserved to be wasted.
Liked it, though, when Sam went over to the couch and Dean called and said "I bet you'e sittingon the couch.", haha :-p

Date: 2007-03-23 04:17 pm (UTC)Yeah it was all very rushed and easy. If they`d set it up a bit more believably the scene would have been more poignant but I liked the brothers in this one. So I`m all good.
Hm, this role-reversal feels strange. :)
Liked it, though, when Sam went over to the couch and Dean called and said "I bet you'e sittingon the couch.", haha :-p
I loved the whole bit with the laundry and poor Sam`s uncomfortable little face. Girls underwear. Eek. And Dean totally knew it. Heh.

Yes. Very strange. *backs off*
I liked Sam and Dean in this just... och, I dunno. I dunno. *shrugs helplessly* Maybe I really need to watch it again.
Girls underwear. Eek.
Yes. He looked exactly like my brother when he spots mine by chance :-p

What are the rankings about? I've seen you do this before, but I forget what it means. *g*
Happy one-year LJ anniversary!

Date: 2007-03-24 12:30 pm (UTC)Basically it`s me being a geek with OCD. :) Baring the first and last episode of the Season I take groups of four eps (2-5, 6-9 etc) and rank them best-worst and after the Season is finished the winners of every group will compete against each other.
Probably I have too much time on my hands. *g*
Happy one-year LJ anniversary!
Thank you. I love my little LJ, couldn`t do without it anymore.

Date: 2007-03-25 02:09 am (UTC)I used to spend way too much time ranking my favorite Stargate episodes. *g* I've been thinking I should start doing that with SPN soon--at least by the end of season 2. *g*
Thank you. I love my little LJ, couldn`t do without it anymore.
I feel the same way. I think my two-year anniversary might be coming up soon. I should look it up.
