So onto the Playthings

Haunted houses and creepy dolls ROCK. Dean seems to think so too. Baby, if you are into cases like this, come to Europe. We have a shitload of haunted castles and the like. Please. :)

Maggie is 4400`s Maia who is one of the few TV-children I like so yeah. The other kid didn`t have much to do and I was weirded out a bit by the Victorian era clothing. Huh?
But damn would I have killed for such a gigantic dollhouse as a kid.

The beginning I already knew from the Director`s Cut and yeah still think that Dean got the irony and Sam just has a penchant for over-earnestness in expressing himself.

Let me say this: there can never be enough gay-jokes while checking into hotels/motels. Teeheehee.
Oh and Sammy, when people assume you`re gay it`s not just because of Dean, it`s because of the two of you together. :-P

Dean was sweet in not wanting the old man to carry the luggage. Aww. And the tipping scene. The dipping bed. Hee.

Generally Dean while not jumping to find jobs at the moment seemed on target and interested once they were there. Maybe we`ll see a gradual progression towards Action!Dean now. Baby steps. :)
I also liked that while Sam found the symbols both guys knew what they meant. Now was that so hard? Just a matter of phrasing it.

Loved how Dean got Sam back for the gay joke with the "he loves to dress his dolls up in tiny little outfits". That was so like ELAC with the freaks and the chair respectively.
Oh, and seems like Sam will never, ever live the porn thing down. *g*
Liked that Dean assigned things there, shows that he is getting a bit more take-charge again.

LOVED the drunk scene beyond all reason because we got some inside into Sam`s anguish and now I can feel actual worry for him losing it somewhere down the line. Until now he has been so self-assured I couldn`t. So interestingly he seems to want to get in as much a good balance as he can and seems pretty fatalistic about his destiny.
Of course Angel learned that lesson in the Season two premiere, you can`t keep score like this. I`m guessing Sam will too.
And I thought it was well-played.

Also loved Dean`s reactions and role here because again as Sam`s torment got revealed a bit I actually felt that Sam feels like he needs Dean. I don`t care if Dean ultimately succeeds in this task or not but I wanted to feel Sam feel Dean can make a difference/is a valuable support system. And I did here.
I don`t blame Sam for asking. It`s different than Dad doing so because it concerns Sam personally and I guess Dean would move heaven or hell first before actually doing the deed. Kind of like Angel asking his friends to stake him in case.Of course the danger there was more real but irrational fear is no less fear than substantial one.

And was I the only one who thought Sam was one second away from kissing Dean? I mean really?

The Dean/Sherwin-scene was nice too. Showed Dean`s interest once more.

Sam offering to the Porcelain God and Dean`s remedy? Teeheehee. Also sneaky Dean with the "you don`t remember anything".

The old woman reminded me a bit off the one in "Something Wicked". And Sam, you won`t even go for poking her with a stick? Wimp. :)

The first rescue scene was okay but the second one I was yelling at them to start CPR with the child instead of looking on anxiously. Man.
Didn`t mind that Sam got two rescues here as I think/hope Dean will get back in the saddle so to speak.

The Maggie-twist was pretty obvious from the start but I didn`t actually mind. It was no biggie anyway.

So the ending was a bit schmoopy but again didn`t mind. Happy-End for the family AND the ghosties. :-P

I knew Sam actually remembered and it would be brought up again so liked the low-keyness.

The end with the Mom and Sam was a lot like a mirror image of "Dead in the water" with saving a child from drowning.

So in conclusion: wasn`t a perfect ep but one I liked very much. I think Dean is on the way up in the Ferris wheel and Sam on the way down dramatically speaking so I can actually worry/root some now.

Oh, and the trailer looked cool enough.

Coming up out of the water with a child in his arms - Slo-mo GOOD, looking at her for 50 hours without doing something - Slo-mo BAD.
Nobody even checked her breathing/pulse.

Yeah, it was definitely a poor choice, because I've seen this repeated on my flist many times by lots of people, so apparently it wasn't just us. *g*

Hopefully they`ll use the story to give him an identity outside of Sam or anything else. I thought it was supposed to be another TV-kid who is too stupid to live. She totally must have known that Maggie was offing people yet she was portrayedas either too ghost-wipped or too obtuse to connect the dots.

The way they had her look so dispassionately at the dead body and the way she watched the stuff in the dollhouse moving around with just a mildly curious air and the conversations she had with Maggie all said to me that she knew exactly what was going on. She just didn't really care to stop it.

And it was majorly stupid by the brothers to just let it go but that was a plot contrivance I could live with even though the parting shot went on way too long.

Me too, with both. :-) The boys were cute in this episode, and that's the most important thing. I don't care too much if they left a gaping plothole at the end. hehe

Oh, but we know the show ending now: Dean and Sam`s ghosts, bonded for eternity, jumping rope. :-p

Bwah!!! *g* Probably. hehe
