SPN - Season 1 in lists
Sep. 12th, 2006 11:52 pm![[personal profile]](https://www.dreamwidth.org/img/silk/identity/user.png)
Recently I`ve done a lot of serious meta and have gotten cranky sometimes with some fannish posts. So I thought about doing something cheery and funny. Combined with my OCDness and my fondness for making lists, I present my personal SPN hit-lists
My top ten funny moments of the show
1. It`s tie between the Spoon-pic/ the itching powder and the glue-y bottle prank.
2. The ass-slap in Bugs, after they got the "We accept..."-speech twice.
Honorable mention for the towel turban.
3. Dean on a plane. Much, much better than snakes on a plane. *g*
4. The witness-questioning scene in Hell House, I love this guy who works at the burger joint.
Imagining their little faces when everybody had a different version.
5. The motel room in Provenance. Though honestly Sam looks like he digs it. ;)
6. Hookman: Dean parks the car right in front of a fire hydrant. On a completely empty street. Both lanes. And then he frowns when he comes back and finds a ticket. It`s just hilarious.
7. Sam being pegged for a pervert in Shadow. His little confused face is awesome.
8. "Low sodium freaks." God, I wanna use that as an insult.
9. The old lady in Something Wicked. And the bikini inspector. Hee.
10. "I have a nervous Yorkie upstairs." Oh Dean, you don`t lie for shit.
Top Ten WTF-moments?
1. The top has to got to....Insta-Dawn in Bugs.
I mean it was hilarious enough how Dean managed to hold off a gazillion bees with the tiniest flame-thrower ever known to man but the five minute night took the cake.
2. "Why didn`t you just call the cops?" in Route 666
Dear writers, that has got to be stupidest line ever written. Your freaking theme is a racially motivated killer truck and everybody goes on and on how the white folks were keeping the black folks down in the old days. So after a racist got killed by a couple of black guys, why indeed, didn`t they call the cops? *headdesk*
3. The ploing-sound accompanying the frying pan to the head in Benders
Did I somehow switch channels to Bugs Bunny? Or Tom & Jerry by any chance?
4. Why did noone notice the Shrtiga had already been feeding on little Sammy for months? Come on, that kid barely even twitched in that one scene.
5. Especially in the early episodes, nobody calling the boys on their outrageous lies right away and demand to perform a full body search. Huh?
6. Finding the one actress who didn`t have an iota of chemistry with Jensen and casting her for his supposedly twu wuv. The hell?
7. Missouri. Honestly, the whole character is a WTF-moment for me.
8. Celine Demon`s plan on the whole.
"So you burn the mothers of special kids on the ceiling once the kids turn 6 months?" "Exactly." "But the kids are still pretty much helpless, what if nobody pulls them from the fire?" "Uhm...."
"So why do you just burn the mothers? I mean, fathers, siblings, grandparents, aunts, uncles...they can all have a pretty stabilizing and heavy emotional influence on the kids?" "Uhm..."
"So, if the kids are in danger, like say from killing themselves or by your demonic children, shouldn`t that bother you if you need them?" "Uhm..."
"Okay, you harvest them every 22 years. If your second group has come of age, doesn`t this mean your first group is pushing fourty already?" "Uhm..."
"Why do you randomly burn girlfriends?" "Uhm...Oh, I know, it`s the same reason, I randomly burn mothers." *beams*
9. The plan in Dead Man`s Blood. Lets just wander between the hammocks and hope they don`t wake up.
Would the Winchester please come forward and accept their Darwin awards?
10. Meg`s haircut.
Top Ten Brotherly Moments
Because honestly, no chick flick moments my ass. :)
1. The Wall-slams in both the Pilot and Salvation. That was some awesome role reversal.
2. Dean and Sam standing united against yet unrevealed Dad.
3. The phone-call in Scarecrow. Wibble all around.
4. The campfire conversation in Wendigo. Dean`s words get through to Sam and in Sam`s current state, that`s huge.
5. Sam thanking Dean in Salvation and later DT.
6. Them walking (Route 666) and talking (Benders) in unison.
7. The whole of the Prank Wars. They were total buddies here.
8. Costumed brothers. Everytime, baby. *g*
9. WeeChesters and the Lucky Charms of Awwww.
10. THE SHOW!!!!
Top Ten Protective!Dean moments
1. Dean shooting everybody and everything that chokes/strangles or beats on Sam.
2. Dean pulling Sam from the fire and carrying him out. Twice.
And I bet he was much lighter the first time around.
3. His little hug after Sam got choked by the lamp. Damn you editors, damn you to hell. *shakes fist*
4. Sammy, Sammy Dean as the quasi parent rushing to Sam`s side in Bloody Mary
5. Dean`s anxiousness in Benders, him stumbling upon Sam in the cage. I bet Sam has now his own GPS installed on him.
6. When Dad insults him about the car, he takes it. When Dad grabs Sam, a line is crossed. And he gets physically shoved away from little bro.
7. The conversation in Provenance. He is empathic, sensitive and awesome.
8. Once the cat is out of the back, a constant wibbling about Sam`s visions.
Dean probably considers sending Sam to a far away convent here, to live his life out in piece as a nun. ;)
9. The snob in Provenance gets it after rejecting Sam`s hand.
10. Some jock at the party in Hookman shoulders Sam. Dean`s face indicates the guy is marked for later. ;)
Top Ten Protective!Sam moments
1. Sam steps over his father`s body in his haste to go to Dean. And he is very reluctant to leave Dean`s side to check on said father.
2. The first 12 minutes of Faith. Good god you can just see Sammy wanting to cuddle Dean close and never let him go.
3. Sam`s telekinesis should he really have that power is only hot for Dean. He came out of the closet for his brother. *g*
4. Sam`s angry face at the end of Faith when he finds Dean`s picture on the altar. If looks could kill, SueAnn would have been toast.
5. Sam is going bonkers because Dean hasn`t called in THREE HOURS in Scarecrow.
Good God, how did the man survive the four years at Stanford? :)
6. Sam`s utterly shocked and angry face at the realization that Cassie dumped Dean.
So much "That BITCH. You want me to kick her for you? Because I totally would."
7. Sam ignoring Hailey completely and running straight to strung-up Dean.
8. His "You were just a kid." in Something Wicked
He is trying here, folks. I bet if John was outside, he`d kick him for good measure.
9. Him calling Layla to somehow give Dean some peace of mind. Awwww.
10. Him being worried that Dean is getting the dead man`s blood alone.

Date: 2006-09-12 10:29 pm (UTC)God, yes. I remember watching the pilot and that particular scene. I was in awe about how they managed to make Dean three dimensional within two minutes and I was wondering/hoping they'd somehow pick that scene up again - and they actually did. I'll be eternally grateful...
Just watched Faith with my brother today. I love the episode SO SO much. Not only because of the h/c but because it's one of the quiter eps. One that works without loads of blood and splatter elements, and it has such a lovely subtone to it, especially the ending which is just perfect.
Oh and here's my Top Ten List of bands Sam listens to:
10. The Calling
9. Idlewild
8. Sarah McLachlan (when he's lonely)
7. the Beatles
6. Nickelback
5. Metallica (secretly)
4. Phantom Planet
3. Creed
2. Lifehouse
1. Coldplay

Date: 2006-09-12 10:38 pm (UTC)I guess it was too good not to pick up on it.
I love the episode SO SO much.
Me too, even though I could have stood for milking the angst of Dean dying a little more. Tearful bedside scenes!!! ;)
Oh and here's my Top Ten List of bands Sam listens to:
Hee. I can so see Sarah McLachlan. Though I`d also peg him for an Evanescence and a Linkin Park kind of guy. I mean, angry Emo-rock?
So, now we need most beloved movies and TV-shows by both guys. :)
(no subject)
Date: 2006-09-12 10:42 pm (UTC)Oh yeah. *sigh* well, I hope we'll get some of that in 2x01 - and NO, don't tell me! :-)
Man, Linkin Park comes 11, Limp Bizkit at 12 :-p
So, now we need most beloved movies and TV-shows by both guys. :)
Dean secretly loves An American Tail and Land Before Time. He does. And E.T. ... (yes ever since I read When It's Over I've been obsessed with the idea). When Sam was younger he loved The Bradys, The Cosby Show, Full House, Growin Pains and Step By Step - everything with a normal family. Dean really liked The Wonder Years.
(no subject)
Date: 2006-09-12 10:45 pm (UTC)Definitely. And Dean had to watch with him and he thought: Marcia, Denise, the one Uncle Jesse married and Carol were hot. And he liked Mike Seaver. ;)
Step by Step? I probably only know the German title.
(no subject)
Date: 2006-09-12 10:48 pm (UTC)Becky?
Oooooooh I bet Mike Seaver was his hero (okay, he was mine, too :-) ) - man I still have some eps on tape. And I'm so tempted to buy the US DVD... :-p
Step By Step is "Eine starke Familie" - oh Dean loved Married With Children, and Thunderbirds :-)
(no subject)
Date: 2006-09-12 10:53 pm (UTC)Oooooooh I bet Mike Seaver was his hero (okay, he was mine, too :-)
Yeah, it creeps me out what happened with the actor. Mike was such a cool character.
man I still have some eps on tape.
I have the one where Carol and Bobby get engaged and wanna elope at the end. I still watch it sometimes. With my mom. :)
Step By Step is "Eine starke Familie"
Oh, okay. Then Dean had the hots for the mom and both daughters. ;)
oh Dean loved Married With Children
Who didn`t? And they both watched ALF. And Dean probably loved all the cop shows. While Sam was an avid watcher of Matlock. *g*
(no subject)
Date: 2006-09-12 10:56 pm (UTC)Oooh, what happened to him?
Dean loved Simon & Simon, and Sam loved "Ein Trio mit vier Fäusten" and that... oh what was the show called again, with the nun called Stephanie?
Dean also secretly watched North & South. BUt only if Sam was in bed and Dad far, far away :-)
(no subject)
Date: 2006-09-12 11:01 pm (UTC)He went totally Jesus-freak, like hardcore. If you so much as look the wrong way, you burn in hell. Good God, maybe he converted to Origin? *g*
Dean loved Simon & Simon, and Sam loved "Ein Trio mit vier Fäusten" and that... oh what was the show called again, with the nun called Stephanie?
Heh, Simon & Simon. And the A-Team. And Sam loved Murray the most in Riptide.
The nun? "Ein gesegnetes Team" im deutschen glaub ich.
Dean also secretly watched North & South. BUt only if Sam was in bed and Dad far, far away :-)
Bwahahah. And he wibbled about Orri and Madeline like the rest of us.
(no subject)
Date: 2006-09-12 11:05 pm (UTC)Does he tend to wear hoodies and a staff? Is he a prior? (Man I LOVED that bit in the first ep when Vala looked at Danny and Cameron and said something about "small gene pool" *lol*)
Ooooh, A-Team! Of course - that's SO Dean's show. MacGyver too.
Bwahahah. And he wibbled about Orri and Madeline like the rest of us.
I never cared for them. I was a die hard Hazard-fan :-) Even if I always saw Jonathan Frakes as Riker, not George's brother :-)
The nun? "Ein gesegnetes Team" im deutschen glaub ich.
Ja, das kann sein.
(no subject)
Date: 2006-09-12 11:11 pm (UTC)I think he had a website where you can take the "Will I go to hell" test. *g*
Man I LOVED that bit in the first ep when Vala looked at Danny and Cameron and said something about "small gene pool" *lol*)
That was a funny in-joke.
I never cared for them. I was a die hard Hazard-fan :-) Even if I always saw Jonathan Frakes as Riker, not George's brother :-)
I was Orri all the way. :) And I actually saw Jonathan Frakes first in North and South because I believe it did come out before. When I was 8 or so. TNG definitely was later.
(no subject)
Date: 2006-09-12 11:13 pm (UTC)TNG definitely was later.
I know, and I watched that show before TNG came out, too - but I was too young to remember the faces I guess.
Oh and Kirstie Alley totally owns me in that show.
And I've forgotten his name but it still cracks me up that that one guy was in MASH and called Winchester there :-p
(no subject)
Date: 2006-09-12 11:16 pm (UTC)A guy from N&S? Who did he play, do you remember?
(no subject)
Date: 2006-09-12 11:19 pm (UTC)(no subject)
Date: 2006-09-12 11:21 pm (UTC)Yes, now I remember him from MASH. Had forgotten his name was Winchester though. But I do remember he was a tightassed always by the rule guy. Not your typical Winchester. :)
(no subject)
Date: 2006-09-12 11:26 pm (UTC)Yeah he was this tightass - I liked FRank better, he was much fun. But seriously, that's why the name Winchester always sounded familiar to me :-)
*pats new icon*

Date: 2006-09-12 11:35 pm (UTC)And I liked Hawkeye.
Will have to go to bed now. Night, medium fella.
(no subject)
Date: 2006-09-12 11:38 pm (UTC)What should I call you then? Night night.
(no subject)
Date: 2006-09-12 11:28 pm (UTC)The Spoon thing OWNS me, now and forever (unless they come up with something better in season two or beyond. Which I find hard to imagine!)
I think it's Sam's facial expression and Dean head-banging.
Little!Sammy did seem a bit...glassy eyed. Just tranced out at the TV. I put it down to emotional damage.
What, you expect the canon to MAKE SENSE, astri? What are you thinking? *g*
I'm very fond of that scene in Blood Mary where Dean says "that does it" and he pulls the car over to give Sammy a heart-to-heart. I love that it's raining buckets and that they stay in the car rather than doing the over-the-top melodrama thing and getting out in the rain to yell at each other.
I still say it's not yet a hug and we haven't yet had a hug in this series. But it's very close to a hug :)
Sam's TK definitely only works for Dean.
(no subject)
Date: 2006-09-12 11:34 pm (UTC)Hm, maybe he had stumbled about John`s stack of valium or a similar medicine. :)
What, you expect the canon to MAKE SENSE, astri? What are you thinking? *g*
I know, I`m silly. But...a little sense...pwease?
Oh, the car scene, I had totally forgotten. I love that too. Sam making it clear he doesn`t blame Dean, Dean trying to knock the guilt out of Sammy if necessary. Awww.
Also BM with all the research had this hilarious line about "and a giant mirror fell on a guy named Dave." Hee, maybe the brothers could investigate this in Season 2.
Sam's TK definitely only works for Dean.
Yup. Better accept it Sam. You`re powers are showing you the one you`re truly destined to be with. ;)
(no subject)
Date: 2006-09-12 11:39 pm (UTC)Yes, ditto. And I love it how he refses Sam's idea for a good while because he's too worried :-)
(no subject)
Date: 2006-09-13 12:34 am (UTC)And Dean actually sort of just rolls his eyes as if to say Dude, this was YOUR idea but with an undercurrent of watching me trying not to show how scared I am. Like Dean trusts Sam's idea, but he's deeply worried. (And this is why I adore Jensen Ackles' Dean performance so very much :)
