More blather about TV...

There is a quite a few of genre shows on right now and this Season brought - at least for me - quite a few surprises.

Case in point: The Originals - the backdoor Pilot sucked and I totally thought it would limp on and get killed in the ratings. The subsequent episodes were entertaining enough but didn`t bowl me over. With the latest ep, I think, the show did what TVD used to do back in Season 1, the progression of "horrible" to "hm" to "hey, that show ain`t half bad". Surprise: pleasant.

Marvel`s Agents of Shield - like probably many others I was going gaga with excitment over this show because Marvel reigns so supreme on the big screen now and Whedon and Avengers. What happened? I watch the episodes and am just not feeling it. Yes, episode 4 was much improved. BUT, it didn`t mark a signifcant upturn in either. The only thing that`s changed for me is that I like Skye better than in the beginning. Doesn`t mean I`m invested in any of the characters. Surprise: unhappy.

Arrow - loved it last Season and still very much digging it now. This right now is superhero feeling at its best for me. Sure, it`s like mini-Batman so what? I love Batman. :) And, unpopular opinion: I really dig Stephen Amell as the lead, I think his acting is fine for the role.

The Tomorrow People - the last two eps were much improved. Problem: the clear reason is their focus on supporting characters. Bigger problem? The last episode without a shadow of a doubt proved to me that I would LOVE to watch this show if John were the lead. He eclipses Steven in charisma, being interesting and just about everything else. So fuck you whoever came up with the idea for your horrible storytelling instincts. Oh, I just remembered it is Plec and she did so well on the Originals. Now I`m at a loss. Why is she fucking up two out of three shows?

Dracula - such a BIG disappointment. What the hell happened? How do you make Renfield cooler than Dracula? And I normally have no problem with Jonathan Rhys Meyer but I read the following somewhere: "you know what would make Dracula better? Vampires." Sorry, but it`s true. Surprise: very unhappy.

Btw, since it has supernatural elements I`ll mention it here: Reign - it`s not good, it`s not terrible. You can watch it. But there is not much reason to.

No, I absolutely agree. I quite like what he does with the character, given that it's a TheCW show.

I think he gets a bad rep because the character is somewhat stoic and broody but it totally works for me. And early island-Oliver was so different from that, it showed range.

The CW is probably better than its reputation. Some shows are not worse than those on bigger networks and some acting is as good as on bigger shows, too. It should just be a specialized cable channel, though, and not attempting to be an actual network.

Hear, hear. I like how he plays them differently. I also kind of love the few moments when Oliver's dry sense of humor shows through.

This. I really hope that the viewers will take to the Flash so that he gets his ownl TV show. I love the Flash. He's one of my DC favourites. I like the good-hearted wisecracks, apparentyl :D

My daughter and I have just started watching Dracula and couldn't watch more than twenty minutes of it. Utterly dire and very disappointing.

I will give it a couple more episodes to see if it improves but if not, this goes to the dropzone.

A bloodless Dracula? No thanks.

Sadly the same for me with T-People :/
And even more upsetting that I dropped Arrow last season and have no intention to watch again. Why is there new cool show to entertain me? I know it's rhetorical question *sigh*

No, I get it. I don`t really have an "it" show currently either.

It's sad isn't it? *sigh* I had a feeling this season will give me something to really enjoy and I mean something new to explore cause there are some old shows I enjoy watching but I kind of know those universes and was hoping for something fresh to discover.

Totally agree with you on Agent's of Shield. Not ready to drop it yet (mainly because of Coulson), but maaan, is it ever so insignificant.

And thanks for the warning regarding Dracula. If I actually start another show with undead characters in it, it had better be good...

Happy birthday - my wish to you is that you'll find another "it" show soon! And that it will be a brilliant show, with tons of fans writing awesome fanfic for. :D

Awww, thank you.

About Dracula, I actually had fun with the second episode. There were unintentionally hilarious moments because after the Pilot, the major critique seems to have been there is no rootable character and everyone is an asshole so it was funny that in ep 2 Dracula was a pc dream (gay-friendly and progressive about women`s rights) whereas Jonathan Harker showed himself to be an insecure, sexist douche.

So they didn`t bother to make Dracula a good character for the show itself but for the sake of his naive love interest, the aspiring young doctor in a male society? They put actually work into him. Teehee.

Mhmm...I'll keep an eye on everyone's reviews and see if I'll pick it up later then... ;)
