New shows

Did anybody watch the premiere episode of Sleepy Hollow?

I adore the movie and went through phases of "YAY" when the show was first announced to "NOOOOO" when they ix-nayed the period setting and would instead put it in modern times. Then back to "Cool" when I saw the first trailer.

My first verdict would be: the trailer didn`t lie. It looks fun, genuinely scary at times and I do like the twist they took to turn it into a larger story. Not their fault that I`m probably going to be soured on what used to be some of my most favourite genre stories for the next fifty years due to some asinine other take on it.

The leads are unknowns - at least to me - and I really like them both. The guy playing Ichabod is a major charmer and certainly easy on the eyes. Abby, the female lead, is sympathetic and competent without being oversold. Thank you, unknown writers. (No idea who created this show and too lazy to look).

For now, a definite keeper.

Also tried out Under the Dome (edited because the show bored me so much, I couldn`t even remember its proper name :) which just wasn`t my cup of tea. The premise sounded cool but somehow I envisioned something like those Fringe episodes where they went to a "cursed" town, only longterm. Instead it quickly turned into another variation of "asshole characters doing asshole things (which I could live with) AND being boring doing so (which I can`t)." A most definite "nay".

I really hated the pilot for Under the dome, and I heard it's only getting worse as it went on. I thought it was a very obvious, typical King story, with his usual stock characters.
The BF loves it though and he tries to get me give it another chance.... But I do not want!

Absolutely loved Sleepy Hollow though. It's from Orci/Kurtzman, who wrote Fringe, Alias, the Star Trek Reboot, Now you see me...
So it's not that surprising. Agree on the guy who play Crane. I am not sure I ever saw him in anything, but he was fantastic. That character could be a total disaster, but he made him work.
Also loved the female main character, and all the supporting. I'm just sad they killed off so many actors I really like.

....

Oh, and I checked, Tom Mison was Bingley in "Lost in Austen"! Now that I know I remember. But he was a blonde in that one, at least I think so.

Half an hour in, I felt like I had seen this a thousand times before. So meh.

Ah, okay, that explains it.

I totally agree about Tom Mison, he did a spectacular job. Didn`t seem familiar to me so I might have seen him in Lost in Austen but didn`t remember.

Yeah, it was like "hi Clancy, bye Clancy" "hi Sulu, bye Sulu". *g*

Also concur about Abby. I had the most doubts about her but she worked well here.

I definitely need a new Supernatural, demon-hunting mystery show. After last year and all the spoilers from Comic Con this year, I don`t think I can even stand to watch youtube scenes from SPN without going criminally insane.

So Sleepy Hollow, here I come.
