Back to real life

Checking in back from vacation...

Had a wonderful time - cruise ships are the height of decadence yet also the height of relaxation - but believe it or not, I managed to get a sunburn even in

Fireweed - the "state flower", it`s surprisingly tasty in jello-form.

Can`t really see it in the pic but glacier ice is bright blue because of the condensed oxygen in it.

Yup, I went on a hiking tour into the wilderness. And it was worth it.

Now this should give it away. And nope, it wasn`t Santa`s backyard. *g*

There is more of those around than people.

Alaska? Beautiful pics! And as sunny as it was, I'm surprised you didn't automatically wear sunscreen!

[identity profile] astri13.livejournal.com 2013-08-15 07:16 pm (UTC)(link)
Yup, Alaska. :) And the sad thing is, I WAS wearing sunscreen, I pretty much always am on vacation yet I still got sunburned. Just me and my usually translucent skin.

[identity profile] katje0711.livejournal.com 2013-08-15 09:29 pm (UTC)(link)
Translucent skin? So you can see through your skin? LOL Hmmm. Was it a high numbered sunscreen? Or maybe you sweated it off.

[identity profile] astri13.livejournal.com 2013-08-16 03:01 pm (UTC)(link)
Heh, I was being a bit cheeky but my skin is really, really fair and I usually don`t tan but burn right away. For suncreen I mostly use 50 or at least 30 but I think I should have re-applied more often. Oh well. :)

Awesome pics. Looks like you had an exceptional vacation! \o/

[identity profile] astri13.livejournal.com 2013-08-15 07:18 pm (UTC)(link)
Thank you. And I truly did, even though I gained probably ten pounds on the ship.

I hear there's tons of food on cruises! It's not surprising if you did gain that much!

[identity profile] astri13.livejournal.com 2013-08-16 03:02 pm (UTC)(link)
Seriously, it`s "all you can eat" for 24/7. The ice cream station alone ruined me.

AHAHA, and there I was thinking all these nature walks would have compensated for cruise food. ;)

But really, when [livejournal.com profile] mamoru22 and I spent our vacation in this Mexico resort a few years back it was the same: In the morning you were waiting for the breakfast buffet to open, then you read a book at the pool, waiting for the lunch buffet to open, then there was an afternoon snack bar, and in the evening the dinner buffet. So much food, so little exercise!

I probably would have needed to walk through all of Alaska and back to compensate the buffet extravanganza. *g*

I know. *hands* The ship had a gym and all even but I`m not really a gym person anyways so apart from doing a few laps in the pool, it was lying by the pool.

Oh, and our buffets never closed, that is at least one or two were always open so you never even had to wait.

I thought it was. My co-worker went there and she loved it. She didn't think she would because it was her husband that wanted to go, but she said it was absolutely beautiful.

She's getting ready to go to Canada in the next few weeks. It was there or Mexico and she prefers not to be murdered so she's going to Canada.

I wasn`t sure either because my friend had the idea but I totally didn`t regret it.

Is it Alaska? OMG! I envy you! More pics, please!

Alaska! *sigh* Feel my envy. I want to go there so bad :)

So no recommendations required? :) Think positive, you are young and have ample time to go in the future.

Thanks. :) I`m not really much of a photographer but the beautiful landscape helped.
