You know, having aquired nearly every medium Star Wars has been distributed in - VCR, DVD (Original version, Extended Edition, Super-Special-Whatever-Edition) and now Blu-Ray, I have to congratulate Lucas on having had an astonishing foresight as apparently he has been filming every blip, bob and camera turn when shooting the original movies back in the 70s/80s. Just so he can release those bit by bit as "still yet unseen bonus material from 35 years ago" on every new edition for the movies. Personally, I loved the old auditions best. Those have got to be some of the most painful line renditions (and we all know the dialogue in Star Wars ain't exactly Shakespeare in the first place) I have heard in my life. It's glorious.

I mean, it's greedy manipulation at its finest but seriously, how the hell could he know back then? Normally, movies this old will have squat in the way of bonus material, simply because back then noone thought about merchandising potential. Then again, Lucas basically invented that idea by securing the rights for it in trade for the - then - common share of the profits. (And there is probably an employee at Fox who is still getting flogged for that). But again, how could Lucas know? It's a bit creepy, is what it is.

Though kudos for the sense of self-irony in putting all the various parodies/homages over the decades together as a bonus feature. Ha.
