Hm.
I liked it about the same as "Ark of Truth". but, honestly, what I expected from these TV movies was something more/better than your average two-parter of the show. And even there were better.
Namely the one where they have to go back in time to restore the timeline and the Stargate program. *cough*
And what was Jack O`Neill doing there, other than being wasted in pretty much a cameo? I like all the characters, therefore I`m primed to enjoy their adventures. So give them exciting and fun adventures. Please.
Also, what about the budget of these movies? Shouldn`t that be, you know, higher? Because I keep getting dazzled by the epic look Atlantis manages multiple times a Season. Sure, they have their re-used medieval village too or the Canadian forests of "hey, I know that tree by name" but they have space battles and effects that I wouldn`t even shun in a big screen picture. What gives? And I feel that the plots in general are a bit more polished and fun.
The teams are a bit different - the SG1 is a lot more "tame" and well, perfect - but I feel that with the right writers, they could be written more charismatic and quirky as well. The raw material is all there, there just seems to be hesitation to really go all out with it. Which, now it`s just TV movies I understand even less than during the show`s run.
Also for
I love movies/TV shows about archeologists and I realize you take liberties, you make them more of fun, dashing adventurers but something you never, NEVER take away is their reverance for history. Indiana Jones, the chick from Relic Hunter, Cage`s character in National Treasures, they all have one thing in common: if you destroyed a pricelss historical artifact in front of them, they would be HURT to have to watch it. They would try to stop it. They will take a moment to be in awe of the living history surrounding them when presented with one.
The Bonekickers guys? They will destroy precious history THEMSELVES and then they will go and CELEBRATE.
Real - movie - archeologists would be horrified by that. It`s what the money-grubbing thugs do, their enemies. So I don`t know who these vile, self-absorbed people were, but sure as hell they weren`t archeologists. I hope the next ancient ruins they find will fall on them and crush them to death in self-defense.
