There is still meta left in me. :)

So OC got cancelled? Never watched it so it doesn`t really matter to me but well, ratings for shows tend to go UP afte cancellation has been announced. Last thing we need is even tougher competition. And the show will run through right into February sweeps. Meh. And then anything new in its place has the first draw of being new. Le sigh.
Cocerning Hunted there is a little discussion going on right now at TwoP how Sam will react to the secret...and the lies and of course my brain immediately flashed to a scene where a pink-clad Sam stormed into the barn and confronted Dean about all the "secreths and lieths" - passive-agressively of course. Eek. When fandoms collide. *g*
Personally I would hope that "Hunted" makes a clear statement about the Myth-arc one way or the other. Yup, I do have issues with the arc where others might not but I feel - and not even Lost has this problem - that the arc is totally not in-step with the show. Yes I will long-windedlybabblemeta about it behind the cut, it`s my way. :)
Case in point: we had a heavy Dean-focus so far and it looks like Sam gets his due now. Totally justifiably. In fact spoilers for upcoming eps seem pretty balanced to me. So I think the the show is coming along nicely. The arc IMO isn`t. It reduces Sam to being a Psyschic Kid. Who is Sam? A Psychic Kid. No, that`s what he is, not who.
And Dean is totally interchangeable within the arc. I mean kill him off, have Sam mourn and then team up with Sarah or Ava and the arc would be going along nicely. The demon storyline doesn`t require anybody special at Sam`s side. Sadly the show would be dead. WTF writers? The show lives off of Dean being Deanish and Sam being Sammish yet for the what I presume to be overreaching storyline of the Season/Show Dean can be fat and live in Florida for all it matters to the plot. Frankly you don`t even technically need Sam, only a PK-kid and his companion. Heck you could make the show about Andy and Tracy in terms of that.
Maybe that`s why I feel so disconnected from it, like in fanfic when the characters maybe called Dean and Sam but could just as well be Chip and Chap and have it be original fiction. I don`t feel drawn in. Yet I feel very much drawn into these specific characters in general. Just not in conjunction with this specific plotline.
I hated arcs and character development before then usually the show becomes as crappy as the plot. Here I love the show and think the main plot line sucks so far. AT THE SAME TIME.
So what I want in terms of clarification is this: is this arc supposed to continue like this: dribbled here and there with a certain disconnect or will it be wrapped up in the foreseeable future and have them start something new or will it be tightened and made more central and if so will Dean have a role in it that requires a) him specifically and b) him being who he is. Yup, that is different than inspiration/trope/sidekick. Because really, only two scenarios: "Return of the Jedi" or "Return of the King". In one the hero fulfills his Campellian quest and faces his final battle alone as only he can and his helper can be anybody. In the other the helper is still desperately needed because the "hero" never gets off his ass and generally loses at life.
It`s a problems buddys never face, I`m just saying. *whistles*
And will we get back to Sam "I have a mind and feelings" Winchester sometime? How does he stand on hunting long-term right now? Had a pretty good idea in Season 1, not so much in Season 2. If he is uncertain about it fine but I don`t even know that. Did he change his mind about Dad as statements like in "Bloodlust" would imply? Where does he stand, what does he stand for and what the hell is he thinking when he isn`t worrying his hair off about being a PK-kid? Oh, or is Dean`s prop or foil in his brother`s angst arc because that`s the real kicker: when Dean does his angsting Sam is marginalized.
Oh boy, only one at the time in the limelights? What the hell would you do with the cast of Lost? :-p
I kinda see that the storm is coming and they have to focus right now. I even acknowledge that only one of them can breakdown at any given time but you can`t keep them suspended in this state forever. So I`m hoping when it`s out we will get some answers, not plot-point answers but where the hell is this thing going-stuff.
I`d be fine if they made either brother dark as long as its earned and doesn`t come with a lame cop-out of "the evil energizer bunny made me do it." :)
I really liked Season 2 so far, the invidual moments, the depiction of grief, the funny, the sad, some horror, some action but whenever we get to the Demon stuff I look heavenwards in annoyance.
Thing is with Seaon 3 I hated the Myth-arc of the X-Files, boring, nonsensical and drawn out. I craved the standalone MotW-eps and loathed all the conspiracy ones. But I can`t even say that here. I think as an abstract the Demon and the Psychic Kids and all that is a very thrilling and interesting storyline. And I don`t "hate" hate the episodes that deal with it. "Nightmare" was cool, "Salvation" was neat, DT rocked, ImToD rocked twice as hard, "Simon Said" was so-so, "Hunted" looks pretty good judging from the Promos. So what the hell is it, I like the idea, even some of the execution but the whole package makes me groan. W.E.I.R.D.
