TV update
Now that all my fall shows have roughly two thirds of their Seasons done, I thought I`d do another "progress" report.
Castle - same old, same old, the actually handle the coupleness of the main pairing reasonably well
Bones - I continue to watch for the interns. Hopefully, the Palant story is supposed to be done the next time it rears its ugly head. Tedious to the extreme.
Both NCIS and NCIS LA -the cases are pretty much bla-bla at this point and they don`t even slightly bother to put a Navy-jurisdiction spin on it for the most time. I still like the characters, though, on both teams. So depending on how they are written, I enjoy the ep. "Corresponding fish" might be the best thing ever, though. *g*
Criminal Minds - watch it out of habit mostly
Supernatural - took a VERY disappointing nosedive in quality after ep 9ish, now we`re back to the same status quo that I got sick of YEARS ago. Eh. And I even liked Henry, the grandfather character, but am majorly iffy on that MOL storyline they are setting up for Sam so he can feel special again and basically remain in the show without acting like the beginning of the Season.
Couple of problems with that: the first half of the Season happened, even if the writers pretend it didn`t. Secondly, why does he get a freaking reward for it on top of things? Grow your characters through organic development, not by spoiling them like obnoxious brats. Thirdly, why did DEAN get some much needed character development in the beginning if he went right back to Season 1 family doormat? For pete`s sake.
And Singer, using the "brains and brawn" analogy does never not make you sound like a pretentious jackass. Ditto for the character using it on the show. In the span of one ep Henry grew out of such simplistic nonsense and bam, in the end Sam fell right in.
Lately, who do I have to kill to get Dean something interesting to do? You know, a freaking plot?
Arrow - I`m easy, I just love Oliver kicking ass and shooting arrows in between moping in the batcave with Diggle tryin to cheer him up/talking him into and out of things
The Vampire Diaries - Strange Season. Stuff still happens at a fast pace and the characters are as amoral and teenager-y as ever but something doesn`t quite work. The sire bond is so inconsistent one ep to another and clearly just designed to keep this stupid triangle in a holding pattern, it`s majorly annoying. Explore Delena for real or don`t but godamn do something. Their scenes used to be so dynamic, now, not so much.
And the cure? Come on, the show is called VAMPIRE Diaries, who wants to watch a bunch of recently-turned-human whiners? Not that I don`t sympathize with some of their motives - though, Stefan, seriously, it will "stop the guilt" - like, are any of your victims less dead if you became human? No, then shut up. - but they get on my nerves, the lot of them.
Hopefully, this cure buisness will just turn out to be a mindfuck like the sun and moon curse.
Something that cracks me up is they are planning a spin-off about the Originals and boom, one more is down. Sniff, they actually made me like the character just before they killed him. Let me guess, Rebekah is next?
Maybe the new show will be Klaus crying his way through everything, from painting snowflakes, to massacering people to not letting the woman he loved die after putting her on death`s door himself. I love the character but it cracks me up that he used to be the "uber-scary Big Bad". He is a fucking a ten year old girl and in thousand years never has been anything else.
Person of Interest - each episodes just manages to be so suspenseful, I`m usually at the edge of my seat when watching, loving it
Elementary - so far enjoying it quite a bit, though maybe I`m the only person on the planet who prefers the Holmes character to Watson. I like Joan and I like Lucy Liu but the quirky genius asshat draws me in more
Beauty and the Beast - major missteps recently, don`t know what they were thinking
The Big Bang Theory - normally I still like it fine but a recent episode made me nostalgic for the days when this was more profoundly tethered to geek culture instead of generic sitcom, the "who can pick up Thor`s hammer" discussion, almost against their will? Gold.

And yes 100500 times to why sam gets an award for being a dick? What's with morale of this show? What's the message they're trying to sell? That being a dick is a good thing and being a noble faithful man makes you a loser? That's just sick.
On the bright note ITA to Person of Interest! That's the show that makes me excited every week. Both lead characters written well and both have their own story and it even intertwine now!
Add there Bear and you can tell how much i love this show right now :)
Confused
Re: Confused
And while I can't speak for her, personally I wouldn't even need Sam gone. What I would want is for the show to be honest about Sam's behaviour. If someone behaves like an ass, admit he behaves like an ass.
But what the show is doing so far is have Sam behave like an ass but tell us his behaviour is "grown-up".
And when your main characters have a creepy co-dependent relationship that makes both of them miserable and that is not healthy, actually allow your show to admit that. But that's not what they are doing right now either.
I have still a bit of hope that this is actually were the show is heading this season. But you never know...
Maybe we are supposed believe that being miserable together is the way to go.
Re: Confused
This might be the only show who celebrates that instead. And it just feels icky to me. Am I really supposed to be seeing that as a wonderful love story? Seriously?
And that is coming from someone who squealed in happiness when Merthur became canon which had serious undertones but it was never like this.
Maybe we are supposed believe that being miserable together is the way to go.
Unfortunately, I think it`s this. Because they do not see that as misery but awesome love.
Re: Confused
I`m sick of that. It`s not the first time it happened in the show and it`s writing guaranteed to turn me off a character super-fast.
Thing is, I always prefered Dean over the show but I liked Sam fine. Now, they have managed to make him literally my least favourite character on all my shows because of that writing.
So, do I need him to be gone from the show? Nope, I would need them to fix the writing though. And stat. I can`t like or tolerate a character like that. I had those in other shows (now over) before and it was always the same, the more the writers try to pimp someone or something down my throat, the more I choke on it.

And Reese/Finch is just awesome. They even acknowledge it like it is "I read when there is tension in the household, the pets can feel upset". Tension in the household??? Ahahahaha. So apt a description.
Also, the little clues we are getting about Nathan and Finch in the past and John and Finch now.

So, is there not much geek culture mentioned in the current seasons of TBBT? I'm only on season 2.

I mean, you still get the occasional geek reference and the guys are obviously still geeks as well but I miss the days when just as I was bitching to a friend about Sci-fi (the TV channel) being renamed into Syffy, Leonard would make the same pun in the show.
