My crackpot theory for Person of Interest Season 2? The first episode will start with Nathan Ingram at the other end of that phone call.

Other than that, I really have no idea what's going to happen. What does Root want with Finch? I mean, they seem to be going for some parallel with Sherlock and Moriaty from Sherlock, the consultant for the crime-solvers and the consultant for the crime-doers. Only here we have Finch using the ultimate knowledge for good and Root using it for evil. However, for a true paralell that would mean her having the same powers/knowledge re: the machine that Harold does. And, I kinda don't think so. She must know OF it and see the potential and to truly seize it, she needs Harold? Hm.

Thankfully Carter and Fusco know about each other now. While the subterfuge between them made for some funny scenes, I wouldn't have wanted for it to go on longer.

Also, kudos, show for creating a nice sense of suspense there all throughout the episodes. And with very minimal measures to boot. It was just a couple of people chasing each other around and trying to outsmart each other at every turn.

My hope for the start of Season 2 would be the machine itself being the dominant player in taking down Root, showing that it is a powerful entity onto itself now. And one which should be, in all honesty, more powerful than ANY human by now. Not sure how they'd be able to physically show this but I have faith in the show.

You're so enthusiastic about this show that I keep thinking I have to give it another try!

Ironically the subject matter didn't particularly appeal to me but it's like an "intelligent action" show. And it's nice to have more mature characters for a change instead of teens/twens. Less out-and-out drama and more subtleness and nuance.

I'm not sure if Root doesn't have access to a machine of her own. The Chinese seem to be in possession of one, she might have access to that one so she knows what its capapable of. However, what good does such a machine, if you can only use it on the Chinese. What she would want is access to an American one. She already told Finch she's into blackmail. So she could use the SSNs for blackmail, or she could be trying to use Finch to get further access.

or she could be trying to use Finch to get further access.

That's what I'm thinking. What I'm hoping is Root getting a bit of a backstory, that is either also tied to the machine in some way or just something bigger than sociopathic greed. I found her to be an engaging villain in this episode but I always enjoy my main villains more when their motives are rooted in some passion, hate, love, vengeance etc.

The Chinese seem to be in possession of one

That is something I wasn't too clear about in the ep that flashed back to John's last CIA mission. Were the Chinese truly building their own machine, independetly of the US? Was it maybe a joint project? Did they steal the tech?

Also, to be truly effective for the purposes they wanted it build for, the machine needs to work globally. Which is actually what I believed it was when the show started, a global monitoring network. Only some time down the line did I put that assumption to question.

There was a flashback around the middle of the season that had John and Snow illegally working on home soil (New York City). They had some guy with a bag over his head they were questioning, and either Snow or Stanton mentioned that he stole someone valuable and sold it to the Chinese.

Then when Stanton and John went to Ordos, there were hints they had been building something, and when you look at the computers closely, there's a whole pack of printouts with numbers on them. Those were Chinese SSNs. So, yeah, I'm 100% that the Chinese have their own machine and someone sold it to them.

I was in fact pretty sure that person had been Peter and that is what got Jessica killed, until we found out that she died for a whole different reason.

Also, to be truly effective for the purposes they wanted it build for, the machine needs to work globally. Which is actually what I believed it was when the show started, a global monitoring network. Only some time down the line did I put that assumption to question.

I still believe it does just that. But Finch only gets SSNs of people in New York because otherwise he'd have to start a whole network of people working for him. He just doesn't have the time for it, nor would it be safe to do that.

And only for one case so mostly one number per day. When I'm sure at any given time in a city like New York there are dozens of plots to get people killed and the machine would pick up on every single one.

At first I didn't think so but now I'm not so sure. I mean, he didn't strike me as the person who would let either Harold or his son mourn him needlessly but if he thought it was protecting them? If he felt a reason to go even deeper to ground than Harold has?

Just this image of John looking up at the camera and it feeling like someone, a real person, was looking back. It would be an epic twist, too. And it would add some new spice to the budding partnership of John and Harold because basically John has started filling the void Nathan left in Harold's life.

Hmmm. You make a good point. I forgot that Reese and Finch were presumed dead. Duh. So it'd make perfect sense for Nathan to appear dead, as well. How sad not to be able to allow even Finch to know. But how awesome if he really was alive! I so need an icon of Nathan!

I have this fantasy that Finch and Nathan were really in love, though maybe it was unrequited. How awesome if they could finally be reunited!

By the way, have you heard of a premier date for season 2? I don't know if the networks have released any of that info yet.

I think a strong case could be made for it from the flashbacks.

Nope, sorry, I don't think CBS has announced the dates yet, just the general schedule. I presume it will be sometime in late September, though.

I know!! In the ep where we had Carrie Preston playing his fiancee (Ha ha, since it's his real wife!) I was so sure he was going to admit to loving Nathan. Nathan seemed to expect it!

Yeah, I guess we'll just have to wait patiently for that info. Probably won't know until July or August. I know they did that with LOST!

I see you are also a fan of Grimm. I love that show, as well. Although, I see you gave up on Once Upon a Time. Maybe you'll give it another chance sometime. Anyway, would you like to be friends?

Hee, me too. :)

Initially, I wasn't all that impressed (and the German words still kill me) but the show has been getting better by leaps and bounds IMO. And I like that in Nick you have a protagonist who is a nice guy without being a totally obnoxious Sue. Unfortunately, most TV writers seem to confuse the two.

Once Upon a Time, I have saved and might give it another go. It was just so incredibly slow-moving and I like fast-paced shows better.

Anyway, would you like to be friends?

Sure, friend away. The more the merrier. :)

*wonders if anyone has written a Nathan/Harold fanfic.*

I have another German friend that likes the show but also laughs at the German words.

Going to add you now!

I think it's the mashine itself is calling.
I'm intrigued by the finale but i hope the mashine isn't the more powerful than any human. I don't want it to become new terminator. What i do want to see though is the mashine being worried about its creator. It'd be so sweet :)

It would still need a voice to interact with John, though.

I think it is, I believe it's protecting him.

I had the same thought about it being Ingram on the phone but I'm thinking that might be too obvious.

I'm not sure what her role will be in this but it should be interesting.

I loved the scene with Fusco and Carter, them finding out about each other was pretty hysterical!
