As Cas once said: Good things do happen...
I haven't done these in ages but this might have been the first episode in the last 2.5 years of Supernatural that got me invested in watching the show again.
Granted, they might still fuck it up spectacularly. And history suggests they will, simply for the hell of it. But
Dean in Purgatory? Hell yes. Anything that saves me from "oh, he will soul-search or something". Meaning the writers didn't bother for shit to come up with a reason why the character was in the godamn story - and boy, did that show - and wrote the exact same relentless and redundant emo crap for him. That went nowhere and led to now growth or resolution whatsoever. Over and over and over. Could have used stock footage for that.
But this time, there is at least a chance to do something fresh. Maybe Jeremy Carver can use this potential and spring an actual storyline with actual character growth and new impulses from it.
Dean in Purgatory with Cas? Even better. They can spend their summer vacation there, making up, having long walks and talks in the creepy forest. In between running for their lives, screaming. *g*
I thought the two characters had some solid scenes in this episode. Cas looked so excited and happy when Dean told him, he'd rather have him, cursed or not and after all, he fit right into their merry little band of screw-ups.
I'm glad Ghost!Bobby is gone. This whole storyline seemed redundant in the first place. And you could visibly see the brothers lose braincells in his presence, having spoon-fed (or exposition-dumped) the easiest clues to them.
The actors flat-out said the ending was changed from something they weren't very excited about to what it is now. I can only guess that things got changed when Samble left. And good riddance. Never to return. In the end, I think she was only a so-so writer and an absolutely lousy showrunner. She did everything I feared she would do when she was announced - only ten times worse than I imagined.
So welcome, Carver. At least I don't look at you with nothing but dread. *toasts*
In the end: Dean and Cas wacky adventures in the enchanted Canadian Forest *grabby hands*

I know, I wanna bask in the glow at the moment either. Just not setting myself up for another epic fall.

Then again, Jared will still be on the show so NO.

It's almost like that spin-off that will never happen.
And, ironically, guess which actor would love to leave the characters separated as long as possible? :-p

Oh, you mean the show I would actually watch?

Steroid!Boy? :p

Well, honestly? Not more than 3 or 5 episodes at the most. If that.
And I only have some optimism in the first place because of the new showrunner.
It's still more than we got in the last 2.5 years.
Also, right on the money. *g*

Can't we just have the Dean & Cas show? I'd watch that one ANYTIME no matter how sucky it gets :)

And it really can't get any worse than it has been. At least it shouldn't be possible.

Me too. But this is just something that will never happen. :/

Hmmm, yes. True.
Well, maybe if Jared ever decides he needs to start his movie career (HAHAHA) and/or make more babies? *hopeful*

IF they make something out of Dean being alone, with Castiel, I'd love it.

If his premiere Samgirl Becky were still running the show, this would be a legitimate possibility.
However with Carver, at least we have a 50/50 shot. And he comes from a show with three leads, where I hear everyone had a storyline. So I'm a tad bit more hopeful.
