What do you know, Samble is out and Carver is back in on Supernatural. Guess the surprise "twists" these days on the show happen off- and not onscreen. *g*

Considering I loathed her as both writer (for the last 3,5 years) and showrunner (for the last two) with a bloody passion, my response is: good riddance, please don't ever return. Also considering I didn't watch his new show but was pretty okay with him as a writer when he left, my response is: hm, maybe things won't suck quite so abysmally now. Maybe.

I do think he doesn't hate Destiel, at least by the eps he has written.

In conclusion: YAYHM!!!

I don't watch his new show either but saw comments that he knows how to give a story to every lead character so yay! I hope he'll continue to do that with spn. *fingers crossed*

That sure would be nice. SPN might be the only show I've ever seen that doesn't do this anyway.

Wait--didn't we blame "Yellow Fever" on him?

Nope, that was the comic book duo. Who also got better as time went on. The new asshat writer on the show is called Adam (Gl)ass. Biggest Samgirl after Sera.

Carver did, let me think, the Christmas episode, Mystery Spot, In the Beginning (I know, you hated that but compared to what came later...), The Rapture, Death takes a holiday, Changing Channels and a few others.

"Hate" doesn't even begin to cover it. Wasn't a big fan of "CHanging Channels" either. Didn't he also write "Mystery Spot"?

I don't know, his episodes always seemed...slightly off to be. Like, they always stayed far under their potential. I remember his episodes as being technically and superficially shiny, but they never hit me emotionally at all. Even "Mystery Spot" didn't do half of what I thought that episode would do to me. But I guess he might be okay as a showrunner? At least he doesn't hate Dean, right?

(The Rapture was the one with Jimmy though, right? I liked that one.)

I feel the same about "Suck Song". I'll probably still hate that piece of crap when I'm 80.

At least he doesn't hate Dean, right?

That is my criteria right now. And I think he likes the character. His Sam was still somewhat of a Sue but not overly so in the end. We'll see.

And he seems to like Cas as well as Dean/Cas. In "Free to be you and me", he partnered them up for a hunt without Sam. :-p

(The Rapture was the one with Jimmy though, right? I liked that one

Yup, that one. I liked it, too.

Of course I also loved ITB and while Mystery Spot isn't one of my all-time faves, I liked it okay. I didn't have big expectations for it beforehand. And Changing Channels was probably the last episode in Season 5 I truly liked, have a soft spot for Trickster/Gabriel and his chemistry with Dean.

I think I haven't even seen that one :)

Oh yay! I mean if it were up to me they could drop Sam period but anyways. It'd be good if the show wasn't the "Show about Sam and Sam's brother" anymore which it seems to have become.

I don't know. I mostly felt secondhand-embarassment while watching Changing Channels. Then again all their meta episodes did that to me, with the exception of Hollywood Babylon.

I did watch the first Season of the US Being Human. I expected it to be horrible, but it actually wasn't. I can't say anything about the overall storyline though because it was basically Series 1 and part of Series 2 of Being Human UK just with a different ending. I stopped watching at the beginning of season 2 because I just lost interest, not because it was bad.

Other than that I am really glad that Sera Gamble is gone. Read that yesterday morning and was just happy for the show and the actors.

That's good to know. I wasn't impressed with Carver at first but he grew on me though he certainly has his own pitfalls, so I'll definitely give him a chance. Though it depends of course when he actually comes on board. If Gamble writes the Finale, I'm fully expecting a scorched Earth scenario, from everything I heard about her behind-the-scenes, that looks her style.

And then it would take time to get out of the shit. Heck, if your main actors wish for the storyline (according to interviews) seems to be "can we pull a Dallas and erase the last few years from the story?", it doesn't sound too good. *g*

Other than that I am really glad that Sera Gamble is gone.

I wonder if Misha being more open about a possible return more full-time in Season 8 has something to do with that. Last showrunner basically got him fired whereas Carver has written a few good Destiel scenes as well as a good Cas ep and thus seems to like the pairing/character.
