Since our cat wasn't really feeling well on the Weekend - lying around apathetically, not eating - I took him to the vet again today. An x-ray showed that his spleen had ruptured and a giant gas bubble had formed in his stomach. She said there wasn't anything to do and he was obviously suffering so she had to put him down. Sigh. :(
Rest well, Georgie, I hope you had two good years with us.

I'm sure he had an amazing two years with you.
I hope so. We got him from the shelter as a really small kitten and he always loved running around since we have a big yard.

It just came really unexpected as he seemed to be getting really better last week but then suddenly deteriorated heavily on the weekend. I'm just glad he isn't suffering anymore so I'll try to keep that in mind.

Yup, I absolutely couldn't have stood by and watched him suffer like that. :(
Thank you.

Your kitty was named Georgie? That was my kitty's name, too. He died not quite 3 years ago now. I still miss him.

Yes, two years back we got two kittens from the shelter and I named them Georgie and (An)tony after two characters in a book I was reading at the time. Unfortunately, Tony died shortly thereafter and now Georgie, too. :(
But we tried to give him a comfortable home in the two years we had him. And I hope he liked it with us.
