Have been trying out a couple new shows this Season. So far I watched the Pilot episodes of

Revenge - not bad, if a bit slow-going. However, my main problem is that this strikes me more as miniseries material. I'm interested in the story NOW but I can already tell that the concept won't hold my interest if stretched out too long.

The Secret Circle - hm, also a slow-going start and reminscent of about 100 movies dealing with this kind of story. I'll give it two or three more eps to see if it picks up speed. Also, I can not see Gale Harold as anything other than Brian Kinney which is odd because I watched maybe only a handful of QAF US.

Once upon a time - an inverse of "The Tenth Kingdom". And again with the slow-goingness. I also have the exact same feeling like with Revenge, that this concept is more befitting a mini series.

So, nothing that blew my socks off so far. Will give Grimm a try as well. And btw, when did fairytales become the new trend? Not that I'm complaining per se as it seems to be at least a fresh idea in serialized TV but I'm missing patient zero here. Usually, those trends come after a particularly successful show/movie with a certain theme. For instance, with the overabundance of comic book movies right now, I wondered why the trend didn't follow to TV really.

Anyone has any other new show pimps, just drop me a line. Everything I'm watching right now are old to middle-aged shows, I miss something fresh on my roster (and some of the old-old-old shows are probably ready to go, at least they should).

I think this one may have sprung out from a book trend. There's lots of fairytale-ish stories at the moment, it would appear; the current fantasy scene is very Dark Urban-ish. Also, don't forget there was the "Red Riding Hood" movie and two "Snow White" adaptations are in the making.

Oh yeah, though I'm trying to forget that one. :)

Like I said, it's not that I mind the idea, so far I just haven't seen it done in a way that bowled me over. Too bad.

I didn't even bother to watch it. I'm watching nothing that was made by TWILIGHT people :-)

Hehe, Revenge is my guilty pleasure :)
I tried Grimm today and ain't sure i'll be watching. The lead character is rather bland.

I liked Grimm. Granted, I didn't even catch the lead character's first name :) but I thought the story moved fast enough and was entertained.

Ditto on Secret Circle. I like the think that Diana's dad (GH) is secretly tapping her boyfriend, Adam. I still habour that mini fangirl crush on Thomas Dekker from TSCC.

It's weird seeing GH play a straight guy.

Ahahaha, wouldn't that be a reveal?

Oh, TSCC, I miss it after that awesome ending. Sniff.

Well, I did love the GH back on the screen - and his role in "The Secret Circle" (just saw one ep) seems to be the most interesting one so far. (Plus I think T. Dekker is super-cute, so I guess I'll watch a few more eps to see if the series progresses).
Other than that: Seems also to be quite Twilight-ish ,-)

As for GRIMM and ONCE UPON A TIME...
As a total fairty tale geek I hope to be able to see them soon. I've to admit that I think that ONCE UPON A TIME is the much more interesting concept, though. GRIMM sounds like SUPERNATURAL meets Fairy Tales (which is good, but just not good enough).
Your words however made me curious.

What do you mean: Old shows have to go? I hope you're not talking BUFFY! ,-) Yesterday I started with S5 again ,-) Didn't see it for ages

Hey, speaking of not seeing(hearing) in ages, how are you? *smishes*

I hear you on that and it's not bad, I just think the lead character is too bland. Maybe the storyline as well as the character will pick up some speed with the new reveal, though.

I'd agree, it's just the execution so far didn't quite live up to my exectations. I also found the segments set in the fairytale world to be so much more interesting than the real world.

Grimm strikes me more as a normal cop procedural with a little genre twist so I don't think the shows are all that alike. However, as someone who has fallen epically out of love with Supernatural - seriously, I have never had a show where the writing turned me against it soooo much and I was crestfallen to see the potential squandered so much after Season 4 of it - this is only a good thing in my eyes.

Oh no, I'm talking more NCIS, House, Criminal Minds, possibly Bones and yup, also SPN. They've all been going on for a long time and while I enjoy some of them still, at a certain point I don't believe in stretching shows out too much.

Buffy, I still have a fondness for and pop in the DVDs occasionally. Ditto for Angel. And more randomely Firefly. Never got into Dollhouse, though.

I am fine. Too much work. A few months ago I even managed to see S. for an evening (which was fun).
Well. As for more details: Guess here in the comments is just not the right place. I should drop you an email ,-)

I just think the lead character is too bland
Sadly true!

I also found the segments set in the fairytale world to be so much more interesting than the real world.

These are the sequences I long for! I didn't see the pilot yet, though. You are familiar with the FABLES-comics??
Plus, I am looking out for Emma Caulfield as a Witch! ,-)

Never got into Dollhouse, though.

Really? I didn't like the first few episodes that much, but from "Spy in the house of love" onwards it totally hooked me.
Especially the last episode of the 1st season and the majority of S2 to were GREAT. I wish they'd done a third season.

Currently watching "V" (just finished Season One) and love it. But I learned this one is cancelled as well. ,-(

Nope, is the concept similar?

Oh, is this rumoured to happen or just a wish? :)

Really? I didn't like the first few episodes that much, but from "Spy in the house of love" onwards it totally hooked me.

I gave it up after a couple episode because the concept creeped me out and some of the characters disgusted me.

I only saw a few bits of the new "V" here and there and Pro7 but didn't think much of it. Probably something you have to watch in full.

Do you watch Vampire Diaries? Because that one really surprised me with being so good. Ditto Fringe. After initially writing them off, I got thouroughly hooked on both.

As for the FABLES-Comcis:

yes, it's familiar, I'd say. Although all the "Fables" know they are fairy tales. There was a big war (I think) in fairy land so quite a lot of fairy tale characters went to mans world into exile. They life in the US. Snow White is the mayor of Fabletown. She's divorced from Prince Charming (who, on the other hand, is also divorced from Sleeping Beauty and Cinderella, because there was just ONE prince charming in the fairytale world). Nice concept.

Plus, I am looking out for Emma Caulfield as a Witch! ,-)

It might be a rumor, but I think it is a true one. She is supposed to play Mrs Ginger aka Blind Witch (the Witch from "Hansel & Gretel"), but as far as I know it is just for one episode, sadly.

As for VAMPIRE DIARIES - I didn't watch it YET. I think I should give it a try ,-)

FRINGE - what can I say. I LOVE Fringe!!! (Although it reminds me of ALIAS a lot - which is no wonder, I know. On the other hand, I loved ALIAS).
