You know something I read that cracked me up? How everyone that was in X-Men: First Class has now drastically reduded their degrees of Kevin Bacon. Tehee. So true.

Btw, does anyone know how that saying/game "six degrees of Kevin Bacon" came about? I mean, I've known it for quite a while but where and how did it start? Anyone? Bueller?

There was a book in the mid 90's called Six Degrees of Kevin Bacon--I do believe I have it. I'm not certain that's where it started, but probably.

A book even? Wow. I did find this (http://oracleofbacon.org/) website where you can find out an actor's "Bacon number". Hee. It's uncanny.

Yeah, <a href='http://www.amazon.com/Degrees-Kevin-Bacon-Craig-Fass/dp/0452278449/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1311190046&sr=8-1">it came out in 1996</a>. I think I first remember hearing about it when some guys (the book authors?) went on Jon Stewart's old (OLD!) talk show to talk about it.

Neat, thanks for the info. I just randomly tried a few actors and none of them had a higher degree of seperation than 2. Maybe Kevin Bacon really IS at the center of it all. *g*

The story I always heard was that someone applied the theory behind the Erdős number to the film industry and Kevin Bacon was a good reference point.

But wiki tells me it developed kind of independently on Usenet: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Six_Degrees_of_Kevin_Bacon#History

For some reason the fact that there are people who have an Erdős-Bacon number is the thing I like most...

I would mostly like to know what he personally thinks about it. LOL!

I did randomely try a couple of actors yesterday and noone had a Bacon-degree higher than 2. At some point, he might have been in a movie with anyone. Hee.

I googled a bit and read that he wrote an introduction for the book "Six degrees of Kevin Bacon". So he probably thinks it's hilarious. :D
