Me and the Idiot Box...

Since most shows have reached the mid-Season mark by now, I'm going to do a little drive-by here going Monday to Sunday:
Castle - I was pleasantly surprised, had imagined show going in a different direction after how Season 2 ended but they are pretty much back to status quo and since I liked status quo, that's fine by me.
House - A mixed bag, mostly I think I'm watching out of habit still. I'm entertained sometimes but it doesn't trigger either a positive or negative emotional response in me.
NCIS - Also a status quo show for me but I still like it for the hour it's on. Then promptly forget what happened. :)
Criminal Minds - This one changed (though not of its own accord) but I still more or less like it.
Big Bang Theory - A couple clunkers here and there but for the most part this is my feel-good-show. Yup, they mixed it up a bit but while not everything might be a big hit, it doesn't actively offend me either.
The Vampire Diaries - Wow. Who would have ever guessed after the Pilot? I love how this show does plot and character work. Superior to about 99 % of things currently on TV IMO.
Supernatural - Was okay-ish with the start, hated it since around ep 6 or so and hope for better in the future. That said, not a single ep I feel compelled to rewatch this Season. Unlike TVD, I think the plot and character work stink to high heavens. Not to mention picking up the Smallville way for making me loathe characters. Kudos. Not. It's only because I've watched each and any crap Jensen Ackles has ever been in so far that this hasn't been drop-kicked to the curb.
Merlin - Season 3 was an improvement over Season 2 in some ways but Season 1 is mightily superior to both of them.
Still in the waiting line are: Fringe and NCIS LA.
I think I'm in need of a new show to really love but there hasn't been anything on the horizon.

Date: 2010-12-11 01:58 pm (UTC)My favourite show ATM is definitely "How I Met Your Mother." And I'm almost caught up with "Bones".
I watched about half a season or so of "Big Bang Theory" because my brother loves it but I just don't think it's funny :-/

Date: 2010-12-11 02:08 pm (UTC)Well, I was afraid they would be giving both Castle and Beckett a sigificant other and then focus the entire show on longing looks and "aren't they meant2B?"
I dreaded that but mostly I think it's still about straight-forward crime stories with Castle being quirky and Beckett being detectiv-y. I know they are a "will they, won't they" couple in the show but I`m very good with that running in the background.

I can see it's not for everybody's taste buds. Didn't think it sounded too good when I read synopses myself but somehow I've grown to love it.

I'm just very...hesitantabout meta-stuff and anything dealing with nerds, fandom, geeks, whathaveyou. It just rubs me the wrong way. I do love the nerd played by Melissa Gilbert, though. I laughed my ass off when she and Lennard had their fling and she went, "Oh Lennard, you magnificent beast" :)

Date: 2010-12-11 02:47 pm (UTC)I've been recced Warehaouse 13, but haven't started that yet... it sounds potentially interesting, though.
And I've just finished watching 6 back seasons of the crime/police show The Closer, which is a lot of fun IMO. Nothing world-moving, but very watchable, with a very strong female lead.
Oh, also: The Good Wife. So good.
And Dexter, if you haven't checked that out yet!

Date: 2010-12-11 08:12 pm (UTC)My Mom watches the Closer so we have the DVDs. Somehow I never got into it. Maybe I'll have to give it another shot? I have enough crime shows on as it is, though. I'm more looking for some genre.

I read that, too. Only problem is the subject matter doesn't interest me at all. :/
And Dexter, if you haven't checked that out yet!
Nope, not yet. I know what it is about but have never really watched it.

Date: 2010-12-11 08:06 pm (UTC)Agree on Mrerlin but the difference between spn and Merlin is i can rewatch any ep of Merlin and i can't now rewatch any of spn eps because the last couple of seasons killed all excitement :(
I need new happy show too *sigh*

Date: 2010-12-11 08:08 pm (UTC)I don't feel compelled to rewatch any SPN either, even eps that used to be my favourites. Maybe a couple years down the line after the bad taste has gone away? But I'm not sure. Bad taste is really bad.

Date: 2011-03-15 12:00 pm (UTC)rps isn't really my poison.Lately I'm into Blue Collars, quite ok if I have to say- the standard cop drama.
Leverage, still enjoyable for me.
CSI series. Oddly even without Grissom in it, somehow doesn't bother me- though few cases seem to be similar so it can be boring sometimes.
Hawaii Five-O, interesting yet quite boring.
Supernatural. I have whole love-hate feeling about S6 so far. Few episodes kinda ruining it for me, the writers somehow made Dean seem to be a douche and that's so not cool for me. The Dean bashing that happened a while ago kinda broke my heart because I really like Dean. And Castiel, the writers kinda pushed back his relationship with Dean to S4, as dick-ish ally instead of S5 'sort of friends'. Despite saying that they have profound bond yet they're always at each other's throat. Though I kinda enjoyed 6.15.
