I won't be posting SPN ep reviews for the foreseeable future, not because I particularly disliked the episodes - in fact, I did really like them - but because currently I KNOW that if I engaged in posting and reading discussion/reviewing/meta, it would spoil my enjoyment of the show.

I know what the current sentiment is and whatever, I will say one short thing: I have a favourite character on the show (it's not hard to make out who by reading my lj) and I'm perfectly FINE with him right now so if you're not, don't tell me, mkay? By which I mean, don't tell me here, I know perfectly well how to skip posts in other ljs.

And this is not a thing about me not being able to handle criticism of a fictional character - I have liked both the clear favourites and the hated-by-all-but-three-people characters in shows, so, really my like/dislike doesn't hinge on majority vote - I just don't want to right now.

Totally have the near-end-of-vacation-blues atm and I really need fandom to be pure fun right now so possibly reading some fic, possible even writing some fic and ignoring everything else. :-D

Aw, I envy you so much right now :-) I've been missing SPN recently--particularly 'cause Dean has been looking really fine on the photos :D--but there is now way I can watch it as Sam's still on the show :-/ And I don't care if he's being written differently now or not, that character has been ruined beyond redemption for me. But oh, I miss Dean.

That's where I'm living with it. I have counter-arguments and opinions in my head and things but not seeing the point -- people are watching the show they're watching. I will watch the one I'm watching.

Also I was upset with show for a while and am enjoying having it clicking for me again--I love all these characters, so much. I want to enjoy while I'm enjoying. More glee, less arguing!

Well, the quality of the episodes has been picking up, not that I think Season 5 will end up as one of my favourites or anything but the show itself is better right now.

And while I don't particularly like the storyline for Dean atm, I still love the character so definitely need to remove myself somewhat.

Oh, and he is looking mightily fine. But then, doesn't he always? *licks lips*

At this point I think I would actually enjoy show more like some of my others where I have no inkling what fandom thinks about anything. Sometimes, ignorance is bliss but I don't wanna remove myself from the creative parts and the fic either. So, I'm hoping to strike a nice balance here.

I even get being pissed at a character, I have been there, even with Dean. Just not now so I really wanna live in my little A-okay world right now. Which, ironically doesn't even mean I dig the storyline all that much as in it wouldn't have been my preference to see it but since it's there, I do believe it plays out reasonably well.

Haven't seen the latest ep yet, so don't spoil me, BUT - I am perfectly fine with the character you mean right now, too. :-) (Not so fine with some others...)

It's even rather surprising to me that the reigning force of opinion, from what you mention, seems to differ. But yeah, I've been staying away from most SPN discussions for ages now, and there are reasons for that; some interpretations just make me GRR.

Well, it didn't surprise me. At this point I can watch the ep and make out what are going to be the bones of contention but whatever.

Mostly yeah, this is me.

Pfff, i don't know what this is all about. I love Dean and i perfectly ok with his current situation and decisions he has to make. I used to be upset about fandom reactions but right now i learnt to laugh at them. I'm a little upset about the way they write Cas but i hope/think i'll be ok with it too. I may hate some spoilers but Dean? No way. He didn't do anything bad so far that i could dislike him.

I love both Sam and Dean right now equally because I understand both their standpoints. It's a nice mirror image to S1, their parts basically just the opposite with Sam going all "I can't do this without you" and Dean determined to go his own way.

But I understand where you're coming from. I stopped reading some of my friends reviews - if I read one more review about how whiny Dean is, there will be some de-friending happening! And when I broke my own promise and posted to a comm - never again.

I like my tiny happy space of LJ where SPN is all cool and depressing and Dean's broken and Sam's worried and Castiel is drunk and I love them all *squishes them*

Yeah, I mean, so he is depressed and hopeless right now. Was to be expected really but he is still trying to do something. Eh, whatever, you're probably right on reactions.

Man, that rankled me last Season already. And I kindly would like to know how all those people handle their lifes and how they never unburden. *eyeroll*

But whatever, I can't change anyone's mind nor do I want or need to. I just wanted to make it clear that I don't care for having that stuff brought to me on my lj. What people do beyond that in Bumfuck, Internet is their business.

I know the feeling. For me it's mainly that I really have fun watching the eps and then I come here (well, to LJ in general, not YOUR entries) and everyone seems to be writing about how bad they are. For reasons I can even comprehend most of the time, but you said it, ignorance is bliss.
Enjoy the rest of your vacation!

I've done my fair share of nit-picking because that is how I tend to watch shows I'm really invested in - I have even occasionaly done some fandom reading on shows I just watch casually and most of the things discussed either fly right over my head or I didn't really care - but even I am put off right now so maybe I'll stick to just watching and wait out for fandom to calm down a bit (or not). *g*

Enjoy the rest of your vacation!

Thanks. I'm dreading Monday a bit, it will be nice to see colleagues again but the workload that is sure to have accumulated in two weeks, shudders.

Sure, me too. But I'm not talking about nitpicking, I'm talking about taking every detail of the story one doesn't like and spinning it so it seems the complete episode or even season was a waste of time. That's what gets me. If you don't find a single nice thing to say about the ep/season/characters/whatever then why watch it at all?

What do you mean "accumulated workload"? Don't your colleagues take over for you when you're gone? o.O

Well, in theory they would but we've been so swamped for months now that nobody can really afford to take on even a single case from anybody else. And I get about 20 to 30 or so new cases a week. I was at 230 unfinished ones before I went into vacation so maybe I'll be cracking the 300 soon.

They will have likely flipped through my mail to see if anything was truly urgent - and by urgent we're talking last notice urgent - but everything else is left. It's the same thing really for everybody when they go on vacation. Sigh.

More than 230 cases?! Holy shit, what are you doing that you need to cover so many individual cases?? Similar thing [livejournal.com profile] esda (still) does?

Project work is different, of course. My projects are on a schedule and NEED to continue, even when I'm not around, so the guys have to jump in for me next week. Still feels weird to leave everything to them again, and I keep on hoping I gave them all the info they require. (Well, if I left anything out they can call me.)

I hope your office situation turns out far better than you could possibly imagine! ;-)

I think this is a pretty smart move. I self-filter right now that if I read a supremely negative reaction I just stop reading it. My sis and I have been re-watching from Season 1 and it is incredible the parallels, continuity, etc that we are seeing watching over and so I still see the show as the show I fell in love with in the first place not something that has fallen off the wagon so far that I don't recognize (which is what some folks seem to be saying sometimes).

We're pretty amazed at how everything is flowing pretty well actually. I mean of course it is not perfect but the good is pretty darn awesome. :-)

Grusel.

I hope your office situation turns out far better than you could possibly imagine! ;-)

Thanks, maybe I caught a lucky week or so. :)

I don't even have so much of a problem with criticism as I'm a nitpicker among many :) but reactions to these last two episodes have kinda broken my joy at the eps themselves thanks to the relentless character-bashing. And I figure that's not worth it. If I want grief, I always have my job to turn to.
