Leverage is pretty cute even though I'm not all that much into heist scenarios. I mean, good for a movie but an ongoing show? Yet they seem to be going for A-Team meets Ocean's and so far, it works.
Christian Kane. Squee. Though I do want to cut or at least re-style his hair. Love what they're doing with the character though. Elliott is "the muscle" yet he is also the one with unexpected soft moments like talking with Nate about his kid or thanking the soldier in episode 2. Also, he actually contributes to the team with unique expertise. Same as the computer geek, the thief and the actress. That's what makes a good team.
Was a bit unsure about Parker in the Pilot but she got more interesting by the second episode.
Aldis Hodge who didn't leave much of an impression on me in SPN is really funny here.
Favourite bits so far:
- Elliot - Retrieval Specialist. They show him slurping his coffee. Then fifteen guys draw their guns on him. Outside shot where you hear numerous gun-sounds. Inside shot and everybody is down but Elliot is still slurping his coffee. Hee.
- "You're precisely why I work alone."
- When they go see Sophie in the theater for the first time. So reminiscent of Cordy on Angel (as was the commercial audition in the next one). Their faces were hilarious.
- They ACTUALLY contacted the Nigerians. Ha.
- "Those sounds come from *long explanations about guns*" everyboy stares "You can identify a weapon from sound?" "It's a very distinctive sound."
"The way he handled that knife, ex-marine, possibly yada yada" everybody stares "You can tell that from his knife fighting style?" "It's a very distinctive style."
- the Congressman gets lured to the crime scene because they cancelled his Mahagoni delivery for his new house. Teehee.
If it stays at this level, it will be a keeper.
Can't say the same for Legends of the Seeker because I have not yet decided if I'm going to watch more, though I'm usually fond of Newzealand-based, slightly campy fantasy shows. But the main characters, except Zed didn't really move me much.
Richard Cypher - that name is kinda ominous in itself, cypher - is a bit too uncharismatic for my tastes. And could he have screwed up any more over the first two hours? "Don't lose this mega-important book." He loses it. "Hold on to this really special sword." He loses it.
But the brother guy and the whole storyline where a shady stranger comes from an unknown land and suddenly everybody believes him, especially ruler-guy of this land, made me go "what?" couple times.
Kahlan wears a nice, flowy dress - perfect for fighting. Or not.

Those were some of my favorite moments from that episode. I absolutely love Christian's character.
Like you, I was a little unsure of Parker, but she was much better in this past episode.

I think her flashback was really weird in the first episode and it set a certain over-the-top tone for the character but I liked her mch better in the newest one, especially that bit at the end where she revealed that she'd bought a plant for the office.

They played it as Nate/Sophie having had a previous relationship maybe which ironically makes me think the show will not work on getting them together.
If everybody just flirts with everybody else in a joking manner, I'll be fine but I agree, shippiness is not needed.
Though they probably all loved a brilliant, beautiful med student who now seems to have disappeared from the face of the Earth. *cough*

Date: 2008-12-11 07:11 pm (UTC)The distinctive style and sound tickled the hell out of me and the comment about Hardison and Parker having a creepy contest was funny.
He's the oxymoron to the team, hard as hell but soft underneath. They keep geeking him out with those thick glasses it kills me.
Aldis is hysterical you'd have never known it from SN which hell it wasn't what he was there to do on that show, but still it feels like we kinda lost out cause he's funny.
Parker scares the shit out of me, I love her I bought a plant what does it do.
I die every time I see Sophie act. I want to hide under the couch.

My favorite is still Parker's flashback (she really is insane! lol) but Elliot made me squee a lot too. Kinda reminds me of one of the Middleman's own intro flashbacks. :D
