I recently watched an old episode of nothing other than BH 90210 - don`t laugh, because when that teen soap first came on, I was exactly in the target demo, of course it still ran when I wasn`t anymore :) - and once again they had changed a song in it to some generic tralalala. Now I get it, the ep was from the DVD and the song I remember from before was pretty well-known in the day so it was about expensive musical rights. Yadda yadda.

Also I get that in recent years the music industry has taken losses and that`s why they`re anal-retentive about it. However something struck me, the song WAS pretty well-known yet I bet most kids today wouldn`t know it. Now maybe these DVDs (not just of that shows but older shows as well) are mostly bought by old fans, nostalgia and all. But hey, maybe they happen to watch an episode while their kids walk in or maybe someone bored checks out an oldie they missed back in the day. So my point is, isn`t taking the music out a case of: out of sight-out of mind? Meaning that it can be promotion if certain songs stay in the shows they were originally in. Call me incredibly naive but as an artist I wouldn`t hate that. It`s gotta be more exposure than none.

My Roswell DVDs - shut up, again :-p - break my heart for the mutilation these episodes have taken with the new music. So what gives, the show was good enough the songs could be in it in the first place so that can`t be a hindrance. And for myself I bought a good chunk of CDs because I hunted down a particular song I had heard in a TV show.

And in most case they seem to forego paying for rights and putting in new - bad - music anyway so what`s the end result for most artists? No free promotion AND no money. *Nelson voice* Haha *end Nelson voice*
Thus concludes my little rant for this evening, ah night, ah morning. *g*

OMG they totally changed the song from Collective Soul to something else. The scene where Michael goes to Maria for comfort. And it's a lame replacment. Doesn't even fit. LAME.

Oh yeah, that is horrible. The song fit this scene so well and now it sounds like some highschool starter band`s - bad - demo reel. Urgh.

About the music. I used to watch Tour of Duty aka NAM - Dienst in Vietnam. I heard that when it was aired in the US for the first time, all the music was instrumental only. But I saw the later version with real songs. And I loved it way better. I think it depends on what version you saw and fell in love with first. For example SPN's 1st season is available on iTunes but without the classic rock songs. Fans are livid of course :)

This is of course true but with these old shows you watch again for nostalgia it`s pure horror because of course you saw the old version first. And I don`t even want to think about SPN without clasic rock. How does that even work when they reference it in the dialogue? :D

Oh boy, 90210! You must be around my age, because everyone was going nuts about that show when I was in H.C and my first couple of years of college... all I remember is that ALL the guys on that show has the same hair style as Angel, and, later, Dean Winchester... since I prefer floppy hair, I never watched.. then again, I never watched Dawson's Creek, and everyone there was all floppy.. but by that time I was all "NOT BUFFY", you know?..

When it first came out I think I was around 13 and I must have faithfully watched it for about 4 or 5 years. Back then I was all about BadBoy Dylan. :)

then again, I never watched Dawson's Creek, and everyone there was all floppy.. but by that time I was all "NOT BUFFY", you know?..

I loved Buffy but never watched Dawson`s other than a few glimpses because those must have been the most navel-gazing, self-involved teenagers ever. They basically had mid-life crisises and celebrated it while bemoaning their misery.

Hair-wise I did always prefer neater. Am probably the only person in existance who didn`t dig Lorenzo Lamas` hair in "Renegade" and wished for the smooth `do of "Falcon Crest". Yes, child of the 80s, what can I say? :D
