Grumble, grumble. Anybody else notice this trend on how previously-recaps tend to be not on the DVDs anymore? I.do.not.like.it.
Was pretty peeved when on the Supernatural Season 2 DVDs the recap pre-Bloodlust to "Wheel in the sky" was missing - but you can still hear the last few chords of it, haha - but I figured it was due to a legal reason with musical rights or something. But the Rome recaps were some instrumental bits and they are still not on the DVD. I don`t care if it`s considered redundant on the DVDs, I LOVED the instrumental score used for the recap and loved the whole editing of them. So I want them on my mothereffing DVDs too. *kicks*

Date: 2008-01-05 12:52 am (UTC)The whole "Then" section is gone, on "Everybody loves a clown" too. But it`s worse on "Bloodlust" because you can clearly see that there is something missing there. The music isn`t finished when the flaming "Now" comes in. Pop in your DVD and check it out for good measure, it`s uncanny. And I loved that song and the montage. Imagine they`d left out "Carry on my wayward son" on Salvation. UPROAR.
And they're leaving those off other DVDs, too? That really sucks. I had no idea.
I have noticed it on other DVDs before but I don`t exactly remember now which they were, just that it pissed me off. Those are parts of the episode. If people find them boring on DVDs, just make a chapter skip. I mean usually the opening credits are the same in every single episode and one wouldn`t just cut them out on the DVDs because it`s redundant or something.
On "Rome" it really pissed me off because there was no reason not to include them, just some score you certainly don`t need to pay for. Sigh.

Date: 2008-01-14 06:28 am (UTC)I buy the DVDs because I want crystal-clear pictures, everything from original airings (and I'm surprised how many shows put the syndicated/edited versions on the DVDs now), and at least a few extras like commentaries and blooper reels and maybe some interviews with cast members or writers or even some behind-the-scenes stuff.
Ah well... I have not even once touched the season 2 DVDs since I bought them. I'd already seen the episodes and I'd seen the extras on YouTube already. *g* I actually regret buying them now.
