Oh, the first few eps of Stargate Atlantis Season 3 were a bit on the less exciting side but Sateda is shiny. Reminded me a bit of the one from Season 1 where they crash on that planet with that old Wraith. Nice they did something with Ronon, I like the character but he remains underdeveloped. And the team - awww.

I love Ronon, and I liked Sateda, too. :-)

It really was an awesome episode. I think the writers don`t really know what to do with Ronon, the character has potential but the only ones they`re really writing for are McShep. And I love McShep but they have an ensemble cast not a two-man cast.

Really? I don't see it that way at all. I think they avoid writing for McShep as much as possible. Any chance they have to separate them and to show that Rodney likes GIRLS and Sheppard likes girls, they do it. What's amusing is that all they need is one little scene together and that's enough, but even the girls always seem to make that show more slashy. But yeah, I think they go out of their way on that show to hit people over the head with the liking girls part. Not that I care, but it can be annoying sometimes when it feels like it's inserted into the show for exactly that reason--kind of like what it seems like they're doing to Dean right now. *g*

Oh, I was explaining it wrong. I just shortened McShep as in both characters, meaning I don`t see them so much writing scenes for both of them anymore as that the two characters seem to get the lion`s share of plot and episodic material.

The others often have the roles from Star Trek a la "sits on bridge, gives a few lines exposition and pushes buttons" or the equivalent of it. Say they come to a planet and either Sheppard does something warrior-like or McKay brings does something brilliant and yet comedic or both and Teyla and Ronon are just kind of there. They get their occasional subplot or episode but that`s it.

That said, I have only seen up to "Sateda" as of now so I`m missing pretty much all of Season 3 and have not seen any of Season 4 so I can`t say how/if that changes.
