This has to be the year of "rethink your vacation" for me.

I had it neatly planned out, go to Egypt in the spring and to India in the fall. Egypt was all booked and ready and the travel days secured. Then the riots happened and I went to China instead. Also "relocating" my vacation days to November where Marco Polo travels offered another trip to Egypt. Only, alas, I apparently waited too long and the November thing is sold out. Damn you, pyramids, I will get to you one day. I know, I could easily go with another company but I enjoyed the MP trip and live strictly by "if it ain't broken, don't fix it".

So, changing my vacation back to the fall, I have now booked a trip to Kenia, a Safari (of the picture taking kind, mind you) no less. Definitely excited for that.

And you know, next year, I plan for Australia. Which probably means I'm gonna end up going to Machu Picchu (where I also plan to go one day). *g*

Of course, once I managed all that, the real tricky part just begins. One of my big goals has always been to set foot on every single continent. And I don't plan on cheating. :)

Okay, if my email provider supposedly sents me an email (with some spelling errors to boot), claiming that due to technical problems they need to verify my account or they'll haveto delete it and asking me to email back my full name, username, PASSWORD and country of origin, it IS a phishing attempt right?

Odd, I have never gotten anything like this before.

Goodness gracious, if I never hear (or read) the fucking word "twitter" again, it will be too soon.

I will be off on vacation till April 10th. No idea how I'll fare internet-wise, I'm bringing my netbook so I might occassionally check in. Hopefully emailing will work so if someone needs to reach me urgently, pm or email.

Have a nice two weeks, folks. *waves*

I admit I'm not really on the up and up of interior decorating but today I went looking for some new bedroom furniture - the one I'm using now belonged to my grandparents so while I haven't slept in it all my life, I have known it all my life - and a good two thirds of everything they had in the store was white. Is that a new trend colour? Because if so, I'm screwed since I HATE white furniture. Especially for a bedroom, it's supposed to be a relaxing environment, not make me feel like I checked in to get an appendicitis. Urgh.

The rest of it was "natural" colours, depending on which type of they wood/timber they used. Now that, I like but I've already done my living room in that style so I wanted something new for the bedroom. Eh, the only thing that did catch my eye was something black and gold. Which also does look somewhat pompous and heavy, bit like the penthouse suite of a vampire. *g*

Also, I'd have no idea which colour to paint the walls and what carpet to get to go with it. It gets points for not featuring the colour white anywhere, though. :)

I don't know if this constitutes as drunk posting but I feel painfully drunk. And usually I can hold my liquor which is surprising because I don't have much body mass and I drink alcohol maybe once or twice a year during family birthdays and the like.

But this weekend is medieval market in our hometown - something I have been looking forward for weeks and now it pretty much rains all the time :/ - but I still went regardless and other than spending a boatload of money on celtic jewelry (love it, love it, love it), I drank my customary cup of Met. Seriously, one cup of Met must be the equivalent of like ten bottles of whiskey on an empty stomach because I can't even freaking walk straight.

Oh, and I did crossbow shooting again. At least this time, I hit something. Not the target, of course, but the wooden structure it was mounted on. Which, if you think about it, is hilarious because I couldn't for the life of me hit the huge honking target but managed the smallish piece of wood beneath it. Heh. Maybe I tremendously suck or rock at handling a crossbow. *g*

In trying to find a few items to decorate my new living room (and hopefully someday new bedroom), I might have become a little addicted to stuff Like This

Some really cute things for garden, bathroom, kitchen etc as well. Ironically, until a couple years ago, I used to not like wicker-work. Like, at all.

Still, must stop buying knick knacks since I really have no room for them.

Drat. I ordered a new wall unit as well as a couch, TV chair and table for my living room last week since my old furniture is only kept together by force of habit. And ever since I ordered, I've been all revved and ready to install and fill the new wall unit with all my books and DVDs, I even keep making plans in my mind where I'll put what. The mere thought makes my little OCD-heart go pitter-patter with glee.

And if you think that's freaky, I also love packing suitcases. :D

Unfortunately, everything will take 8 to 12 weeks to be delivered. *makes grabby hands* I can hold out on the couch pretty easily, even though my old one keeps biting me (loose spring poking me whenever I slide in a certain spot). But, shelves and shelves to fill... Not that I expect there to be room to spare when I'm done. While I do plan on throwing a few things out, space-wise, it won't be much different to my old ones, just a different arrangement. Though that alone could solve a couple of current shelving problems I'm having.

Of course before all that I'll need new carpeting - the old one bears proud scars from our dear Rolli. And walls will need repainting as well. Behind my couch you can see a phantom shape of basically me, embedded in the wall. Ahem.

Sigh, so much to do. At least the long delivery date gives me a bit more time to save up on the money for the whole project.

The one thing, though, I'll be really missing from my old wall unit? A build-in little safe. I used to think that was so cool when I was little. And yup, that should tell you how old that thing is. And a hand-me-down to boot. :)

In other news, starting on Friday, I'm off work for two glorious weeks. Hooray. Still have a ton to get done tomorrow, of course. Expect to actually get done maybe half. At least I nearly worked my way through all the court-related documents today. Yuck.

The Social Court that has jurisdiction in our area is the buisiest in all.of.Germany. And it damn well shows. The judges are getting grumpier by the second. Today I got a court order, or better saying a "reminder" to follow said court order in three weeks, threatening an official complaint if we wouldn't comply. The complaint would probably go against our whole department but since it's my assigned case, it would ultimately fall on me. Yippie. And of course they had to send this via our big boss' office so she saw it before it landed on my desk. Double Yippie.

Nevermind the fact that I explained that we needed time to comply and asked for overtime. Oh well, I send in a 50 pages! notice (normally they are around 5-10) in, containing three of the five months they wanted us to basically "re-do". I have asked my colleague to send in the "other half" when it's done.

Now, I actually like my work. I don't mind it containing a lot of number crunching - in fact, that is easy compared to the "wonky" cases, I don't even (half)-mind having to read through huge stacks of files to solve basically one case. But I hate, hate, HATE the lawsuits. Which is deeply ironic considering I studied law but damn, do I not wanna handle any stuff related to the court-side of things. Sigh.

I just put on my bikini top, took a shower and now I'm sitting in my living room in my wet bathing suit. See how you deal with THAT, body heat. *headdesk*

Furthermore, I think I'm allergic to heat. Other people break out in hives in reaction to certain plants, pollen or food, I break out in hives when it's too hot. I want it to be over, over, over.

Thanks for all the good wishes in regards to my last post.

Unfortunately, still no sign of cat anywhere. I've been trying to distract myself all day, periodically checking the yard, putting food out, calling for him etc. It's not the first time he has gone missing for a day or two - so, still a possibility he is just on a little trip - but that hasn't been a while. Sigh.

What really bothers me right now is that on Thursday night he was meowing loudly - wanted to get in for a few more cuddles and treats - but as it was late and I was off to bed, I didn't let him in. Which is something that just happens every now and then, no big deal usually but now? I just wish I had given him his cuddles. It's stupid and irrational but *sighs*

Damnit, I'm getting freaked here. When I came home this afternoon, neighbours told me a car was run over earlier. Black and white one of unknown origin - to them. At first, I didn't think much of it but now it's a couple hours past my Rolli's usual dinner time and I have not seen him. For the last few weeks he has been around unfailingly at the same time.

Now, he shouldn't have been able to escape but what if he did? God, the thought that of him being run over and then taken away like garbage? *throat tightens*

I just hope he comes around still. *bites nails*
