Where do I sign up for the Demon`s NL about Dean Winchester? *g*
Yup I`m back, had a nice weekend - until today because if I didn`t leave my wallet back in Mainz, it was fucking stolen from my fucking backpack on the train. My wallet with a not unsignificant amount of money in it plus ID and cards of course. For a three-hour train ride I was a glowering mess and my mom had to drive like an hour to come pick me up because I didn`t have any money to actually go back all the way home. THIS SUCKS OUT LOUD.
So, I need to get my mind off things, here is my review for
We watched it all together on Friday and I think apart from
mareen, I was the only one who liked it.
Though I will say this episode had one big problem that kept it from achieving the true greatness it could have: the EDITING. It had a cool legend, the flashback scenes rocked, it brought the brother banter and the angst-potential for the Dean-Demon scenes was off the charts. But I felt it was sloppily edited, the scenes with random "Your ten years are up" extras were too long or too many or badly placed. I can`t really say. And the Dean-Demon scenes weren`t milked for all they were worth. Jensen acted his little heart out but they didn`t have the same organic feeling like say the Dean-Tessa scenes.
What I loved about ImtoD, it was like a harmonious flow with no misstep along the line. This one had a few cuts in it that took me out of th story. Don`t know if I can put it into words better.
STILL, there were plenty things to love for me:
The Robert Johnson flashbacks - woohoo
The elderly artist rocked - now his scenes, I felt, had significance and weight to them and the actor sold them very well. It was also cool to see a guy who took responsibility for his actions. And I loved the salt`n pepper-joke. :)
Also, when the guy said he was tired, we cut immediately to a weary-looking...Dean. You know, sometimes I don`t mind the anvils. They are comfy. ;)
Brotherly banter in the diner? Gold. Sam is just so jealous and upset and when he is all grown up (pardon the pun), he wants to be a wanted felon just like his big bro. *g*
Dean and Sam in suits can never be wrong. Or unhot. And the myspace-thing was too funny. Of course Sam knows what it is.
The scenes with Evan were interesting, even though predictably Sam donned his Captain Empathy mantle and Dean donned his "Overidentify" cape. Not that I blame him, he does have a tendency to run into people who are living painful reminders of what is like a constantly bleeding gap in his chest. Holy moly, poor Dean.
Dean and the Demon were hot together. And she, too, looked like a woman. Not sure if I liked her acting at all times but that had a vibe. The kiss? Mwrorr. Could have gone on for a bit longer. For all I cared they could have had some hot sex right there to seal the deal. See writers, it`s not that I don`t want to see Dean getting it on. Truly I thought they were hot. As was Dean`s slightly befuddled wide eyes afterwards. I BET she just grabbed him and planted one on him. *g*
Now as hot as it was, it was edited sloppily. Angst angst suspense supsense - she says "Wait" and next shot: everything is dandy and they are sucking faces. It felt jarring to me.
The act of them kissing itself didn`t bother me. It was her thing. They established that. So who the hell cares if it was gratutious?
And the way she fangirled him before. Btw, where do I sign up for the Dean Winchester demonic NL?
Oh, and when he invited her into the car. Hawt.
Since I was spoiled I knew about the trap and all but I still love and ever will SmartHunter!Dean. Yay.The Latin? Melt, melt, melt. His voice lends itself to speaking Latin. And his pronounciation sounded pretty good to me.
Equally Dean knowing about Robert Johnson (while Sam didn`t) was cute. And that`s not a slam on Sam. Nobody knows everything. It would be ridiculous if Sam caught every reference ever made. He took art, Dean loves music - so why not the roots of his music.
The Sam-Dean scene before Dean went to summon the Demon? Had some chunks of Cspwdt but again, didn`t bother me because they never resolved that little tidbit. Of course it is still a hot topic and of course neither changed his position/argument.
Their final car scene? Love, love, love. Didn`t feel at all that Sam was insensitive here. He thinks Dean knowingly marches deeper and deeper into quicksand and he feels helpless. And he tries really, really hard. His little face there when Dean silently changed the music and basically admitted the truth? Wonderful. All: "God, what am I supposed to do? How can I fix this."
So all in all, it didn`t achieve the level of greatness I had hoped it would but it was far from a bad ep for me. I mean I dearly love Cspwdt and that had lame-ass extras and a mildly interesting zombie plot. Priorities I say. I found way more to like her than to nitpick.
here be some spoilery musings for the SOON...
Also the SOON segment. I HATE YOU. Not only had it clips for 2.09 and 2.10 but we will most likely only get 2.09 before Hiatus. *wails*
"Croatoan" looks like an action-filled ep with possibly a cliffhanger ending. Now from spoilers and the previews I think I have a good idea what "Hunted" is gonna be like. Dean, bound and gagged and looking anguished after an explosion. Oh my, whoever could have a reason to tie Dean to a chair and make him suffer by blow up...something. I have NO IDEA. *g*
AND the lake confession. When the hell will it take place? End of Croatoan? Used to think so but now I don`t. Beginning of "Hunted"? Don`t think so either. The possibility I see now is the end of "Hunted". Which could fit together somewhat with "Plaything." Though it would indicate that Sam takes it pretty well.
Now why would he split in Hunted then? I thought their way of getting out of the mess in "Croatoan" would force Dean to spill it. But the setting with the lake in the woods threw me for a loop. So Sam, uhm, gets better and wonders and THEN they go to the lake and Dean tells his piece? Then Sam splits? Anger or angst? And HIM inadvertently brings them back togehter through revenge? Does he lure Sam with Dean? *down, brain, down*
Well, I await some answers in "Croatoan".
