I don't even want her "developing in the background". Why waste the words in a script on her? The thing is, I think Dean and Sam can be perfectly okay interacting with other people for short periods of time but these are not the people. This is not how to do it. Jo sucks the life out of the scenes. The only reason some of those "quiet" scenes were good frankly is because Jensen was really good and she didn't distract from it. I know people keep praising the actress but aside from a CSI episode I've never seen her in anything else and I don't think she's good at all. She has about two expressions--pout and snirk.
