Drabble-y fluff

astri13My big angsty SPN-fic is kicking my ass. Hard. And now another plot bunny has grabbed a hold of me. So, I was thinking: Baby Steps. Also I`m in the mood for fluffy cuteness.
This is a companion drabble - yes, I write sequels to drabbles :) - to Quid pro quo
Don`t own the boys. Yada. Yada.
Backup
Sometimes John thinks his son`s name is "Awwww" instead of "Dean."
He feels really bad for the little guy, helpless against the onslaught of Mary`s matronly friends. With their big heaving bosoms into which his poor boy is being squished.
And he winces in sympathy when a chubby little cheek is pinched repeatedly. He tried to make a break for it with the kid once. Mary was not impressed.
So Dean is on his own again and John feels ashamed because it`s the first time he left a soldier behind on the battlefield.
But then seven months later backup arrives.
