In the end, it is about the soapy relationship drama, with Elena, Stefan and Damon at the center of an eternal love triangle.

It just used to be so much better written. Even if the triangle was at the center, the larger stories surrounding it were interesting, full of surprising twists, quick-paced and have decent character-development with great scenes between individual characters.

All of that is gone now.
