Watched the two new CW pilots this week:

Arrow - that was pretty good, I thought the guy-returns-home-changed-after-trauma story was done well enough. Compared to what we saw of Ollie in the flashbacks, it is clear that he has changed profoundly.

Maybe the saddest scene for me was him sleeping on the floor in front of an open window. I guess on some level he is incapable of not hurting himself right now. And his family/friends seemed to expect a bit too much in terms of rapid readjustment to his old life. Like, noone even suggested counseling? WTF?

I liked the doctor acknowledging that there was a lot of scar tissue - as well as the mirror scene bringing that home - and lots of fractures that never probably healed. That would be expected after what happened. Though, he shouldn`t be quite as nimble then, should he? If bones don`t properly heal, you lose mobility and dexterity. In fact, a hunchback of Notre Dame like posture would make more sense in that case.

But I realize this is TV and especially the CW so some suspension of disbelief is to be expected.

Did not quite get the Dad shooting himself just then and there. The little blip about the fresh water running out was too short to establish the situation as so dire. Had they been trapped underground and running out of air, different ballgame.

Liked the relationship with the little sister. And even the ex-girlfriend has potential. Not too sure on the best friend but at least he seems to have a few more layers than party-boy.

Nice twist that it was the Mom who was evil and not the Stepdad.

Will stay tuned.

Beauty and the Beast - you know, I will go ahead and say that I didn`t actually hate this. Nope, it doesn`t have great or even good writing and it`s a lot less profound than the original but I didn`t expect any of those things going in anyway. It will be a romance mixed with a procedural, highlighted with cheese. Sometimes when I`m in the mood, I like those. Maybe next week I`ll be reaching for the bleech again. *g* Also, surprisingly, I didn`t get "OMG, it`s Lana, nooooooo" factor much, as I had feared.

Of course I had to giggle that the height of "beastlyness" in terms of the CW is a scar. Like, you are making a show called "Beauty and the Beast" and go "but both leads still have to be hot, you know". Hee.

So he is simply the Hulk. Granted, I think Ron Perlman would have prefered that to sitting in a make-up chair for hours every day but it`s the easiest way out. And I can admit that it`s more pleasant looking at the guy as is.

The story with Katherine`s mother is basically Beckett on Castle and hopefully not that much of a drag.

Wasn`t quite so keen on taking a famous Delena song from TVD for their final scene. Seeing as the two shows air on the same night, it seemed a bit weird.

Other TV reactions in one sentence or less:

Haven Get your fucking act together, Nathan, I`ve had it up to here with your "guilty till proven innocent" bullshit.

Fringe Hm, I`m still somehow waiting for the story to get going already.

Vammpire Diaries I want Ripper!Stefan to come back and kick Lapdog!Stefan`s ass, right off that Dawson`s Creek moment on the roof. Oy.

Grimm Juliette and Renard? DNW.
