Mystic Fall Marathon
Finally finished my marathon rewatch of Vampire Diaries. All three Seasons, 66 episodes in pretty much two weeks. And it is incredibly rare for me to do a major rewatching of my shows at all. Individual scenes? Sure but hardly the whole thing. Somehow though, once I started it became quite addictive. The narrative flows (more or less) quite smoothly at a wonderfully fast pace. The only bad thing? Now I'm really revved up and going for Season 4 and it's still two months away. Sigh. :/
Some things stood out even more starkly to me though in watching them all one after another:
- Mystic Falls is the most party-crazed town in the universe. I have never in my life seen so many dances, balls, get-togethers, soirees and parties. Why these people have wardrobe other than lavish gowns or tuxes, I don't know. Also, at every single event someone is killed. Granted, some of them are immortal but mayhem happpens. So why won't these people stop throwing parties? Or going to them? *g*
- Stefan hates dancing. Damon loves it. And I mean LOVES it. Damon Salvatore is the most dance-loving vampire in the history of vampires. He dances on bars, railings and okay, sometimes even dance floors. :D
- While Elena can seriously frustrate me sometimes (cough, certain Season 3 episodes, cough), I still really (and astonishingly) like the character and don't think she is a Sue - if she was, Klaus would have worshipped her
- Speaking of, I root for Klaus/Caroline - don't judge me
- While I like Stefan - but find him most interesting and charismatic in Ripper mode - I never felt for Stelena as a couple, they came together so rushed and it's just? IDK. The real "love story" of the show is Delena to me. Though I think the chances of them ending up together are slim. Somehow they are probably not the "endgame" couple. Boo.
- Elena hates people and vampires (cough Damon cough) making decisions for her (which is why being with Stefan makes things more easy for her) because she is just like it. Seriously, when a loved one is in danger, Elena's instincts are just like Damon's "save them, protect them and to hell with what they would want, they will get over being angry". No wonder they clash.
- The vampire whose death I still mourn the most? Anna. In my darkest hours I want Jeremy to end up like Bill Forbes, a consumate vampire hunter, allthewhile still mourning his lost love Anna.
- The character in general I mourned most is Ric. Nooooooooo. Screw you, Esther.
- I like all the Originals. Seriously, all of them.
- I believe if Klaus had tried to compel Damon to "unlove" Elena as he had Stefan, it wouldn't have worked. And not because I actually think Stefan's love is lesser - I truly do not believe that - but because of how Damon in love is. He was obsessed with Katherine for 150 years. When he is in love, noone and nothing will get it out of his thick skull.
- Stefan loves Damon more than even Elena. It was for that love that he fell last Season and for that love that he was redeemed. Meanwhile Damon loves Stefan and Elena in equal measures.
And last but not least: :)
- I love that there are so many supernatural characters you can have long (loving) torture scenes with. With the shirtless writhing. And the blood. And the touching. And the screaming. - Again, don't judge me. Ahem. *g*
