A curious observation on Vampire Diaries We have had a couple of vamps on this show with their switch flipped to "off" at some point, namely:

Damon
Stefan
Katherine

I would say it`s highly debatable on Rebekah and Klaus, those two are so emotional, they couldn`t turn them off, if they tried.

However, the three above? Could be great fun, charming, sassy, snarky, amusing. All that WHILE being evil assholes doing reprehensible things.

So why is it that when Elena flips the switch, she and fun just don`t exist in the same zip code? Sure, she pretends to have fun like the three above but she is almost robotic in her evolness. And I even understand some of her points but she is just rationally mean and petty and cruel. Which should be an oxymoron.

We saw the difference in the Damon flashback last week, he was all those things, too, cubed but there was passion behind it. There was passion behind Stefan`s vengeance quest against Klaus. And there is passion behind Katherine, well, always. Elena is kind of like an evil, logical Vulcan - still no fun.

Sigh, I had hoped for a much different outcome but now I want something to happen: give her the cure, compel her to turn the emo back on, anything. At least when she was moping and wishy-washy and depressed, there was some life in her.

This Season is trying, to say the least.
