I just read the first spoilers/teasers for Merlin Season 5 that I see real potential in.
I assume everyone already does know by now that - now - adult Mordred will come back to the show and train to be a Knight in Camelot. However spoilers were inconclusive as to what role he`d play and from some posted audition script sides, I figured "traitor in Camelot, part 3". A role previously held by Morgana and Aggravaine.
But the actor, see interview here, as well as the writers pretty much spelled out that for once his allegiance will be at least undecided/unclear for most of the Season. Meaning he could be genuinely conflicted.
Seriously, if I never have to see another "Arthur is totally fooled by the traitor within while Merlin and Gaius keep their idiotic mouths shut and then Arthur totally loses his self confidence in the Finale and Merlin feeds him some preposterous lie while STILL keeping his mouth shut about anything that truly matters" plot it will be TOO SOON.
However, I`d forgive them a lot if for once they`d put in a genuine twist in and make a totally "obviously evil" character like Mordred grey. (I mean, lets admit it, they had a good shot with Morgana in the beginning but after her lightswitch to smirking, muhaha-ing crops-burner who can never get it straight that ARTHUR and NOT GWEN sits on "HER" throne, they fell flat on their faces.) Possibly even good in the end. Prophecies schmophecies. They can mean all kinds of things after all.
