Heh. It's the only thing they left "open" after all. And even so the ending came across more like "that's it? okay weird" but the story itself got resolved.
If something is conceptionalized as a trilogy (or even as a story with sequel potential), I expect some actual plot point to be left open, the bad guy getting away or another threat being established in the end. If they had shown the evil Queen rematerializing somewhere in the Dark Forest, smirking evilly, at least I would have gone "jeeze, another one?"
Maybe it can be her annoying idiot!brother.
