The character is obviously very restrained and secret, so there's nothing much to emote for him.

I think he is trying to convey something going on beneath the surface, though. Which I'm usually getting from the context of the scene and less from him. Normally, it's the other way around.

I have no idea how the same people who cast Nina Dobrev also cast this girl.

Maybe it's like "ein blindes Huhn..."
