astri13: (Want Arthur)

Haven't done these in a while but this episode was kinda epic if only because something happened they can't bloody well reset. A real game changer as it is.

Hooray for Morgana being revealed already. I found the totally-obvious-smirking-traitor-in-our-midst-routine really getting old. Also Merlin, if you could go back now and not rope the dragon into bloody healing her, would you do it? Doofus.

Now, if only, only Merlin's magic could be revealed to Arthur already. It's way past time. WAY past time.

So, is everyone in Camelot kinda dead? Prisoners? Slaves? At least the whole army is gone, isn't it?

The ep had a few really good things and a few infuriating ones. With a title like "The Coming of Arthur", I'd have hoped to see him portrayed a bit more competently for a change. Merlin doesn't need to save the day twenty-thousand times in each episode, you know? And getting ridiculously shot with an arrow in the back AGAIN? Oy.

Also, poor Cenred. I liked him. On the other hand, I'm getting kinda sick of Morgause. Yadda, yadda, I hope she bites it.

Getting the cup was so anticlimatic, you wouldn't believe. "Give it to me." "No way." "Yes way." "Okay. Here." And what the hell was the buisness with that child? Granted, he held the sword pointed forwards, not at the child's throat or anything so I hardly believe he would have seriously harmed a kid but still, wtf? This is Arthur, not Uther.

On the other hand, there was a lot I loved. Some wonderful Arthur/Merlin banter. Uther demanding Arthur go alone and Arthur... taking Merlin with him. Merlin bitching about what to pack. Such a married couple there. And Arthur's little smile when Merlin made it clear he'd stay with him. Aww.

I'll overlook the OMG-what-a-coincidence about meeting up with Gwaine again because it was so cute how Arthur stepped up to protect his "little friend". Also Gwaine, why the fuck did you not say you were the champion? You let your friends walk right into that DRAMATIC REVEAL. :-p

The single most funny thing in the episode hands down? Merlin and Gaius SHOUTING each other's names in a castle full of immortal enemy soldiers. Shut the fuck up and talk quietly, you stupid sods!!!

Sir Leon. Sniff. If they kill him, there is gonna be hell to pay.

Morgana giving Gwen the "turn to the dark side" speech? Seriously? Just two weeks ago, she plotted to have her burned at the stake, now she wants her to live? If evil!Morgana had shown some caring about her old friends still, okay, but nowadays it looks ridiculous.

Felt a bit sorry for Uther with his epically betrayed face. But still, she was smirking like an arch villain for 11 godamn episodes in a row, you never caught it?

Felt really sorry for Arthur's astonished and betrayed face. Though the smirking thing goes for him, too. Still, he didn't know about the sibling thing on top of everything. At this point, however, I want him to run her through with a sword. Morgana has gone way over the line.

Oh, and that was the cup of life Nimueh had back then? Who knew. I miss her a bit.

Next week looks epically epic again. I hope they won't end on a cliffhanger - but fear they will. Maybe they will have the entire fourth Season spending with evol queen Morgana and Arthur with his merry band of round table guerilla knights retaking Camelot to be crowned king at the end? Not too in favour of a plot like this, I could, however bear it, if he fucking learned about Merlin's magic already.

OR, Arthur will retake Camelot now and become king - Uther will probably be killed - and already marry Gwen? In that case, what will the rest of the show look like?

Questions, questions.
