So,

Okay, now we know what Morgana has been doing all that time she was barely in the episodes - secretely going evil off-screen. Check. She possibly found a version of the Arthurian legend and found out she has to in some capacity. However, she is still missing the cunning to go along with the evil because while I can let the manipulation through Alvarr slide - that guy could sweet-talk that creepy Mordred kid, hats off to him - and I could even let all the shifty action and guilty looks slide as well, pretty much confronting Uther before freeing sorcerer guy, thus making herself suspicious when she hadn't been at all? Have a Darwin award, Morgana.

On the other hand, all creatures of magic should have Darwin awards. Do all of them sit around in Uther's dungeon, waiting to be executed when they could mumble a few words and walk free? How DID the great purge go down? How was the fucking dragon captured in the first place? When was Uther so competent in the face of magic he didn't dine with them? Questions, questions.

Merlin could give a lot of intense looks. Me likey.

There was a bit of cute married couple banter between Arthur and Merlin as well. Arthur teasing him a bit during the ride to the valley. The food stuff. Heh. We usually see things from Merlin's perspective which means Arthur more often than not is a royal - literally - prat to him but Merlin really DOES seem to be a rubbish servant. I mean, his food looks ghastly. People are stealing the majorly important keys.

And awwww for Arthur covering up for Merlin.

There was one bit of Arthur/Morgana banter that was almost painful in context because for a tiny moment - even though her main interest in that scene was to keep him from attacking the sorcerers and it was all about betrayal on her part, not worry for him - they shared a sibling like moment there.

It's interesting that lately Morgana seems to let go of all the remnants of her old life. Even in episode 10 she looked more amused then anything about the prospect of Arthur in life-and-death-battle whereas in Season 1 she was tormented whenever she saw his life in danger. This episode there was this moment with Gwen. And of course when Alvarr made it clear that not only Uther would bite it but Arthur, too, and likely Gaius, Merlin, maybe even people like Gwen, Morgana seemed conflicted - for a moment but didn't protest, didn't leave.

Now, if put to the test, I don't think she would actually stand by and let them be slaughtered quite yet but it's disconcerting.

Felt sorry for Uther there because Morgana's words must have completely blindsided him. Ouch.

Mordred is creepy like a creepy thing.

And the dragon has finally lost its patience. Only now Merlin saw a terrible future in the crystal. Does this mean Merlin is the strongest of them all btw? That he merely touched the crystal and immediately could harness its power? No working on it whatsoever.

All in all, the episode was okay. It had some plot and forward momentum - which are always appreciated on the show - but lacked some of the emotional connection with the characters.

Preview for next week looks very good, though.

One question, though, how many knights does Camelot have? And will one survive at one point? Ahem.

Heretofore, I merely thought it was a ship full of incompetent people but nope, they are sociopaths, too. Head science guy frames head military guy for murder so manipulative buerocrat can take command. Head military guy finds out and maroons head science guy - comdemning him to a slow death on planet nothing. (Granted, head science will return to exact his undoubtedly sociopathic revenge but it's the thought that counts.)

And that's what they are doing when they AREN'T raping people back on Earth. Yippie.

Except strangely enough angry psycho guy who seems to have the most common sense on the ship. I vote for him to run it. He should also get to go to Earth, he seems to have bagged himself consentual sex on ship. Good for him.

I know they are trying to do BSG with Stargate logo but for God's sakes, the atmospheres of both shows don't really mix. It's like trying to mate a hamster and a elephant.
