Since I have been away for our annual Slasher Meeting, I didn't get to post reviews for the latest episodes of
Supernatural
That was actually a reveal I didn't see coming a mile away so kudos. Of course, it was also a retcon because Kripke said angels were a late addition to the arc so no way did he have that in mind in TT or MS. But I liked it nevertheless.
And was deliriously happy to have some myth-arc connection again. If you want to do an apocalypse, bloody commit to it. That calls for a tight arc and not rag-tag comedy.
Loved the spoofs. Dr.Sexy, M.D. and Dean's little crush on him was so adorable. If they were on the beach, Dean would have totally stubbed his toe in the sand all bashful. And the dig at the Denny storyline.
The sitcom intro was adorable.
The game-show was, well, mostly about Gabe amusing himself. But I don't think there were lessons for the characters since they didn't understand what it was about.
CSI - they totally mugged it up there. Ha. Aw, Dean, I kinda like procedurals, some of them. But you do have a point.
Knight Rider - starring Dean as "Michael", ha. And Sam as Kitt - loved his "this feels really uncomfortable...ow".
This ep had quite a bit of smart!boys. BOTH of them which is ALWAYS appreciated.
Loved Richard Speight's performance. Surefire way to get an angel emotional? Talk about "Daddy" and the "family". Worked even with Zach.
Would have loved more of Castiel.
Adored seeing Dean's leadership potential return. He really has the natural charisma for it, even to sway angels. You could see his words struck a chord. And of course he is the agent of free will vs. destiny. Always has been.
Big thumbs up.
Merlin
I didn't like the pacing so much because everything seemed to spiral out of control in a matter of seconds when, I presume, days went by.
Merlin was an idiot in the beginning but you could feel for him.
Uther was a real idiot but at least conflicted when it was Gaius. And Gaius gave him a good kick in the end. "IF you suffered" - Uther, bend over for your kick.
That witchfinder dude struck me as an idiot, too. What, did he think he would blithely accuse Morgana and Uther would nod along as well? You know, at this point I WANT someone to accuse Morgana of sorcery just to see the reaction. Uther clearly loves her, I can't believe he would just throw her to the wolves.
This time, the Gwen-Arthur scenes worked better because it wasn't about epic luv that came out of nowhere.
I loved the scene of Arthur manhandling Merlin out of the throne room. Hug, hug, hug. Come on, they were positioned like in a hug. And Merlin looked so cute and little in Arthur's strong arms. Ahem.
Little thumbs up.
and a few words as to SGU
I knew the stones were a bad idea but THAT bad?
Wacky hijinks of the rape variety. Yay. It's like Lucius has never left. *headdesk* And the PTBs are bitchier than ever in defending them. It used to be "oops, we didn't see how that could be rape" and now it's "shut up, wankers, you didn't see it but everybody said yes". Stay Classy.
Also Chloe? The chick whose function on the ship is to doodle Scot and whenever Scot is not available to give Eli false hope? Fantastic. Not.
And, people are really actually freaking out over yesterday's news over Jensen's engagement? Like seriously? Call me crazy but when someone is in a relationship, they are in a relationship to me and it doesn't matter all that much which official "status" that relationship has. They look nice together and I wish them the best.
However, their private lifes have never been that much of my concern, ditto for the announcement(s) last year. What they do when with whom where is their business. It doesn't hurt or in any way tarnishes my squee/fantasies as to certain who's/where's/when's.
