astri13Wow, that will be an utter series low in ratings for us this week. 2,27 Million and that before the Chicago pre-emptions will be subtracted in the final numbers (make that about 250.000-300.00 viewers even less)? Some of our re-runs this Season did better. Which I`m guessing was exactly the problem - a lot of people probably didn`t know/notice it was new.
I don`t think the episode itself deserves that abysmal number but oh well, hopefully next week we`re back on track.
Now my take on the episode.
I have never watched Ghosthunters (is that what the real reality show is called?) but I have seen docus in that style so they spoofed the concept really well. My problem is just I hate docu-style and shaky cam. Never watched Blair Witch Project because of that. Camera makes me nauseous.
As for the actual content I felt that after a slow start it picked up once Dean and Sam came on. Never disliked the Hellhounds but never really thought about them either so I had not enough interest in their singular adventures. So predictably my interest was greatest in the Dean/Sam-parts. And hallelujah for an awesome depiction of smart, competent hunter Dean. This I LOVED and ADORED about the episode.
I read some people thinking Dean and Sam (Dean especially) were dicks to the Ghostfacers but I really didn`t think so. Or rather yes, they were dicks but with total justification. Snarking and getting sarcastic with people whose stupidity rises through the roof? Hell yeah, that`s me. I`m sure a lot of them thought I`m an assh*bleep* *g*
So yeah, I was insanely happy with the depiction of the lead characters this week.
And Corbett - you couldn`t help but like him but the others? Again, I didn`t dislike them, I just didn`t care enough.
So to summarize it was an okay little ep and I felt entertained through most of it, just not one I would geek out about. Still, the numbers probably reflect that it was a failed experiment - bringing in the lead characters 15 minutes in for the first time and everything, I guess a lot of people tuned out because they thought SPN wasn`t on. That near damnation of the ep, of the experiment, wasn`t justified but I`m not sad if we`re not doing that particular concept again.
