My modem arrive today and I`m supposed to get hooked up with DSL on Thursday. We`ll see how that works. Wish me luck, folks. I wanna drive on the fast lane finally.

In other news I`m watching Battlestar Galactica Season 3 right now. Is this the final Season? Sci-Fi (the German version always has ads for that fact, huh?). Anyway I think it rocks, wasn`t so down with the second half of Season 2 but I think S.3 is back in the saddle. This show is TEH shit when it comes to grey storylines and characters. I basically root for whomever is currently speaking, including mass murderers. Yay. Well, okay one Cylon model doesn`t do it for me but otherwise I`m heartily won over.

Ah, okay, I was confused by all the "final Season" stuff. The airing rhythm of Sci-Fi and other cable channels is so out of whack sometimes, it`s hard to keep up with it.

I just read 4400 has been cancelled. Drat, I liked it. Nothing fannish but enjoyed watching.

I adore BSG. They filmed about 13 episodes of Season Four before the writers strike started. The intention was to have 20 episodes in season four, and that'd be the final season. We're no longer sure if we'll get more episodes beyond what's all ready filmed though.

I really appreciate the fact that BSG doesn't feel the need to give us bad guys and good guys. It makes the stories so much more interesting. I also find their political parallels to be facinating. They get away with so much because it's "sci fi". I love shows that make me think.

Aww, that sucks. With BSG and the way they plan out their journey it really isn`t good to lose half the Season basically. :/

Right. Instead of clearl us vs.them-lines, it`s more like there are many different viewpoints and all are valid. The Cylons have real depth, feelings and sympatheticness yet they still commit atrocious acts. Just like humans.

I also find their political parallels to be facinating.

Usually I`m not so much into politics but the show is making it really compelling and doesn`t give easy answer. It`s not the show nearest to my heart on terms of fannishness - still more emotionally invested in SPN - but BSG is the best-written in my eyes. By far.

I find it facinating that it's the Cylons who have one god, while the humans are polytheistic. There are a lot of cultural aspects that modern American's would more easily identify with the Cylons, as opposed to the humans.

I'm really hoping we still get all of season four. Sci Fi is notorious for pissing fans off by ending shows early.

And I don't like political statements when it's clearly "this is the right thing. This is the wrong thing!" BSG just presents political situations, but doesn't feel the need to SOLVE them for us. Just give us a new perspective.

I'm fannishly involved in SPN and BSG. BSG is my first love. Starbuck was just so gloriously frakked up. She appeals to me much in the same way Dean does. Those two really should be featured in a crossover fic someday. They're kindred spirits.

I`d still rather see SPN there then on Teenybopper-TV who admittedly don`t care for the show. Give me two good Seasons more on Sci-Fi and I`d be happy.

Earlier I rewatched "The Passage", the one where Kat dies and as she goes off to sacrifice herself, as all the Pilots practically crawl to their Raptors, hungry, bleary-eyed, half-dead from radiation and off to do it once more to save the civilians, I thought to myself "man, Dean would SO fit right in there". That is the attitude he can get behind, give and give and give. Kinda breaks my heart.

Yeah, SciFi would probably let them stretch the boundries further instead of trying to force the show to appeal to 15 year olds. If 15 year olds like the show GREAT! But it's not terrible news that adults like it too.

And Dean really would fit in on BSG. He and Kara both have that skewed sense of self, where on one hand they're incredibly cocky, but on the other they think they don't matter. It's all about the greater good. For Kara, that's the Fleet. For Dean, that's Sam and the people he saves. My favorite scene of Kara's is early season two, she's with Helo in her old apartment on New Caprica. She's talking about all the things people are fighting for, but she never missed any of her old junk... she's fighting because she doesn't know how to do anything else. I could just as easily see Dean deliver that monologue. He honestly doesn't believe he knows how to do anything but fight. It's the only thing that gives him purpose. *hugs them both*
