I'll share something else with you, too. While I was waiting for this chapter to be posted, I was playing out in my head, where the story might go. I actually had Jaret feeling sorry for Jen over his unhappiness over the fate of his fellow tribesmen, but then telling himself that in this world "the strong were predators and the weak were prey". And if you didn't want to be prey, you had to make yourself strong. And that was what Jaret had done.
So imagine my surprise and delight when I saw Jaret using those exact words--predator and prey--to justify his actions to Jen in this chapter. =))
